I had high hopes for this tropo as the forecasts looked excellent for good conditions across the North Sea. So far it has been something of a non-event. There was some tropo to SE England and East Anglia on Monday evening as well as Barbelkreuz on 101.0 and 105.5. I also heard Mullaghanish on the car radio yesterday morning driving near Andover (Lyric FM, 99.6). Yesterday evening however, conditions were flat. Very disappointing, at least in southern England.

Powerplay- Anything from Somerset (Mendip)? something might come in off the back of the antenna during lift. Once the Sussex Coast mux evolves to become Sussex and moves to 10B, you may be in with a chance of London 3 or Bournemouth.

Nick- Has been flat as the proverbial here. Even Caen and Cherbourg have barely reached audible levels.

adc, you have reminded me, I actually heard France Inter on 87.9 from Pic du Midi last Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, only very weak and with slow fading. This has been my best log of this 'lift', and that was before the tropo was supposed to arrive!

I use an external, rotatable, 5 element Band III (DAB) antenna.
There is a powerful TX at Roosendaal/Alticom Toren, 40kW!
This seems to be the first Netherlands DAB+ DX, that comes in here at my QTH.

A very useful and up to date website is this :-

Hi brumlad36

Cheers for the link and I could see from the Hepburn chart that the best conditions were up towards your way, supposed to have good sea paths in September to.

Fingers crossed for good DX before the winter

Now that's interesting about the Sussex mux move to 10B, when is this happening? Yes I can often here BBC Somerset from Mendip on 95.5 here.

not sure when it's going to happen, but the plan is to add more tx sites to the north, and have better coverage throughout the county. It's part of the local DAB buildout

https://www.gov.uk/government/upload..._12_14__1_.pdf

I'm not sure what the DAB nulls are like from Mendip- I can get Somerset DAB at home no problem (Fordingbridge) using a 4 element rooftop, but not a thing from SE Wales, also using Mendip- I have to go up to Godshill (that's the Hampshire one, not the IoW one) in the car for that.

Conditions are flat here, R2's from Wrotham on 89.1, Oxford 89.5, NHT 88.1, Sutton Coldfield 88.3 just bubbling above noise level and Rowridge 88.5 a little bit stronger.

Disappointing here as well. Since Sunday I've only had minor enhancements from Egem, Lille and a few Netherlands sites.

My DAB radio this evening. My location is near Scunthorpe 2 miles west of the River Trent and I am getting BBC 3 Counties radio and MKFM, and BBC Derby is coming in clear as anything. I keep tuning in my radio currently and am amazingly I can't get BBC Nottingham which is the one I often get as it comes from the main East Midlands transmitter.

Some weak Germans starting to appear on the band this evening. So far:

87.6 NDR 2
87.9 v weak talk
89.0 pops, probably RTL Brocken
101.4 Radio SAW Brocken
101.8 DLF

Oliver, earlier this afternoon Holme Moss was logged in Poland and Lithuania via tropo! Watch out for spectacular ducting.

That is very impressive Nick!

It reminds me of the magic 10/10/10 date when I logged several Polish stations, including one on 105.5 near the Lithuanian border!

Good DX
