Well, after a frustrating first half of the week, with high pressure well and truly in control and the forecasts of good tropo not materialising I had begun to lose hope in this high ever delivering the goods. However, on the evening of Thursday, 1st of October, it happened, and how! The band opened up to northern Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Previously I had only ever heard Sweden on a couple of channels over the years via tropo, and I had never heard Norway. Amazingly NRK Petre on 95.0 even produced 3 bars and RDS for a while from Lyngdal during the late evening. My previous tropo distance record of 1116 km (SR P1 on 87.7 from Halmstad) was well and truly shattered during this tropo, with several transmitters heard at >1200 km.
The lift probably peaked on Friday 2nd October. I didn't log Norway on the 2nd but there was still plenty of activity from Sweden, Denmark and northern Germany. The most distant log of the opening was heard this morning, a very weak SR P1 on 87.6, almost certainly from Visby at 1451 km:

By the time I had returned home from work early on Friday afternoon, conditions were sparser, but started to intensify again towards the late afternoon. Finally, at around tea time on the Friday, I had my first ever loggings of Poland via tropo, and not just to the nearest part, like Szczecin. The first signal IDed turned out to be Radio ZET on 105.0 from Gdańsk at 1371 km!

Over the next hour or two I heard a handful of Polish tropo signals, from Gdańsk or Koszalin, peaking with RMF FM on 98.4 from Gdańsk at 2 bars/solid stereo:

Poland was around on & off until maybe 1930 UTC (8.30 pm local).
The conditions to Sweden and Denmark continued to be good for the rest of the evening of the 2nd.
By the morning of the 3rd October (Saturday) There were still a few signals from Denmark and Sweden but they were mostly weak. Norway also popped up briefly on 87.8 too. By late morning the long-distance DX had gone.
The entire folder of DX recordings from this tropo can be found here for those that are interested:

What an amazing tropo, the likes of which we probably won't see again for a long while.
