Well, that was a surprise. Exactly 3 weeks after the phenomenal tropo to northern Europe at the beginning of the month, comes another belter, the likes of which you would normally have to wait several years for. This time it was more widespread, affecting a large part of Europe.
I first noticed that something interesting was brewing on returning home from work on the Thursday, the 22nd. Turning the XDR on revealed plenty of signals from eastern and central France, SW Germany and Luxembourg. We had to go to Andover shopping though and by the time we got back the tropo to E/SE had fizzled. However, there were still some signals from quite deep into France, as well as a mostly weak RNE Radio Clásica on 91.6 from Culleredo. As the evening wore on Pic du Midi came up nicely on 87.9, reaching RDS levels:

A few other signals from Spain also started to come in too including RNE 5 on 105.0. The tropo area was actually widespread as a few signals from Germany were also in.
By the following morning there was a good lift to the south with several stations in from the Basque region of Spain as well as as an RDS level signal from France Bleu Gascogne on 100.5:

A little later, swinging the beam round to the SE brought in Säntis in Switzerland, including a decent signal from RSI Rete Uno on 107.8:

Then, after returning home from work at about 2.20 pm local the band was wide open from southern and central France, Switzerland, and southern Germany, and even a Spaniard on 90.9! A very large area coming in simultaneously. As the afternoon wore on the signals from Germany got better. By the evening they were joined by my first ever reception of the Czech Republic via tropo, mainly Plzen on 91.4, 95.6 and 101.7 but also a couple of frequencies from Liberec. Amazingly, Plzen even reached full RDS levels on 95.6:

Austria also joined the party in the evening, from Bregenz and latterly Salzburg. So by this time the band was full with signals from southern and central Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic!
The lift was still ongoing the next morning but with generally fewer signals and on average weaker. Switzerland and Austria had gone. However, Plzen was still in on 91.4 and stayed hanging around until after 10.30 am local. The main lift dropped out at around 11 am, but a handful of weak signals could be heard as if by scatter until well into the afternoon.
