Thanks Nick for all of the useful information as usual . Yesterday I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, I just wasn't near a radio during it (as per usual most of the time). Apart from Fresh FM the other day, I've missed the lot this time around it seems.

Nice one Nick! I have also missed a lot - even when I have a radio nearby I often forget to check!

Same thing with me, I'm either at work during it (typical), out or just don't get round to checking.

Thanks for the responses on yesterday's amazing conditions. The only confusion now is over which station in Iran I received. Two responses have said it is IRIB Radio Iran, whilst all the info in FMLIST only has IRIB Radio Javan sites listed on 89.0.

Today has been pretty lively with signals present from the Baltic briefly and then mostly from the Balkans e.g. Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece, for example.

There was also a period in the afternoon whilst the Balkans DX had temporarily dropped out that the Azores were coming in with RDP Antena 3 on 87.7 and RDP Antena 1 coming in on 97.9. What I presume was Rádio Renascença was overriding BBC Oxford on 95.2 from the same site also came in for a short while.

Picking up "Melodia" on 88.7 and "TLSE FM" on 92.6 today in Northern Ireland

Pretty sure the first one was Spanish but I'll take a wild stab in the dark and assume that TLSE is Toulouse!

Multiple stations on these frequencies. On some 2 or 3 are fading in an out in turn

87.6 Gong and Kossuth
87.9
88.0
88.1 RRACTUAL
88.2
88.3 Maria R.
88.4
88.5

I've no idea where these strong enough to give an RDS are coming from. The languages have a sort of eastern European 'flavour'

Hi,

I was also receiving 88.1 RRACTUAL. It turns out to be Radio Romania.

Chris. (Lincoln, UK).

That's interesting. I've often wondered how narrow or broad the reception of SpE might be. The signal was very strong here. I've now discovered that 'Kossuth' and 'Gong' are Hungarian stations.

Great openg this afternoon. With our local Radio 2 from Wenvoe being wiped out by a suspected Romanian station. I was also getting some Italian stations in the mix as well. That RRACTUAL station on 88.1 was very strong just using my portable radios telescopic aerial.
Whilst I was scanning the FM band I was watching Ukranian TV on band 1 channels R1 and R2.

Yep. A very strong opening mainly into Romania, Hungary & Slovakia earlier this evening with a packed band from top to bottom! Certainly the best so far for strong & sustained signals.

What has been very apparent so far this season is a lack of openings to the south and SE. Usually Spain, Italy and Algeria dominate but so far most of the openings have been in an easterly direction.

From earlier on today (Around noon):

88.4 - RDS RADIO 1 - Probably Rai Radio 1 - Italy
87.8 - RDS PRVI - PRVI - Serbia
88.0 - PRVI again

Unknown on 90.0, 92.4, 95.6 & 87.6.

Driving along the coast yesterday I had Kiss FM on 96.9, which I presume was from Spain as it sounded Spanish. There was a few others as well but that's the only one that came through with RDS.

I'm hoping to get back into proper FM DXing again as I've ordered a Triax FM 3 from Germany. Had one a few years ago but it ended up breaking.
