Massive lift this morning from France. DAB coming in from Paris. FIP on 105.1 with rds at 38db. RTL on 104.3 with rds at over 40db. Plenty on France Inter stations across the band!

DAB is still enhanced here - the Wolves and Birmingham multiplexes coming in (80-90 miles, with the Peak District in the way) with just a small amount of 'bubbling mud' on a standard Pure One Classic radio.

I'm also getting Chris Country in DAB+, but I'm not sure where it's coming in from and this radio doesn't display multiplex names. The Chris Country website says it's on London 2 and Suffolk and the trial multiplexes in Manchester, Cambridge and Portsmouth, but I'm not receiving any of those.

(edit: mystery solved re. Chris Country - it is back on the North Wales/Cheshire/Wirral etc multiplex which is a regular here in lift conditions)

Never received French DAB here in Norfolk but my girlfriend is from Hastings and we often go down there. I've received plenty of French mobile providers on Beachy Head but would love to see what's available TV wise and on 2m and 70cm.

You can definitely pick up French TV from Hastings. I put some pictures and a video up in a TV DX thread here http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...814817&page=14

In my old flat in Hastings I had a TV that could do Pal and Secam so used to be able to pick up analogue French tv when the weather was good.

I had Laser Hot Hits on 1476 last night playing dance tunes, 1404 tends to be a battle between Romania and Greece these days for me.

Thanks, I've just followed the link and remember that conversation. Some good reception from Normandy.

Some interesting conditions to Ireland today. 87.8 RTÉ Radio 1 was heard in various spots driving over to my mum's house not long after midday, and I heard Spin FM on 103.8 from Dublin on the home setup just before I left.

Which is stronger for Radio Cluj 909, 1404 or 1593 as it's quite a good station with various music?

I have never been able to pick up anything from Ireland. The Mendips are bang in the way- I think Whitchurch must be in a more favourable position being that bit further north.

My only hope of Irish reception may be a Dxpedition to this spot https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.981213,-2.1222835,3a,75y,343.44h,88.81t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sC-xMBkdLjdup3NlYE9B0JA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 about 20 minutes away from me next time there's a lift.

Next Wednesday and Thursday could be good according to the forecast. The BBC Weather pressure map is showing 1044mb for Tuesday and Wednesday - not sure I've seen it that high before!

The forecast is for quite strong ducting over the North Sea towards the end of the month. I normally like to watch continental TV at the New Year. I may not need a satellite dish this year!

I'll do my best !

The forecast is still looking promising. It might obliterate domestic digital TV signals in the South of England though!

In Derby today I got a strong Kiss FM on 106.4 and a weaker Sunshine on 106.2

That was just on a bog standard car radio, I'm sure a fuller band scan with better equipmemt would have revealed other goodies.

Does anyone know why fog affects radio signals in this way?

As I understand it fog and radio signal ducting are both a result of temperature inversion. I'm not sure the fog itself is a cause. The humidity might aid the ducting though.

DAB reception of all local multiplexes seems to be suffering a bit in the last couple of days around the Surrey/Kent/Sussex borders. Nothing additional detected so most likely incoming interference from distant TXs of the same and other multiplexes. Nothing too spectacular compared with previous atmospherics, but enough to knock a few % off signal strength / quality.

A quick update from my nephew in North Cornwall this evening - this from a quick scan on a car radio...

97.8, 96.7, 103.1 French, 106.8, 102.6 Spanish
96.7 = RCF on RDS
96.5:Spanish
95.8 Spanish
96.9 Spanish
103.1= France Bleu?

Irish nationals on rds, also ID'd Radio Kerry 97.0.
France Inter 95.4 on rds.
BBC Oxford 95.2 drowning out Cornwall on the A30 at Liftondown!

The Norfolk mux on 10B was receivable indoors in West Kent on my Sony XDR-P1DBB's telescopic aerial this afternoon, so that might well have upset Sussex. On the Grunding G5, Lille is still coming in well on 103.7 and most of its other frequencies.

There's a big lift on at the moment - most the stations are the common France/Belgium stations from Lille/Egem and there was quite a few coming on the same frequency making it difficult to identify.

However I switch to DAB and picked up one of the Paris DAB Muxes again (6a from Fort de Romainville) which contained the following:

- Ado
- Latina
- Chante France
- Evasion
- FG Chic
- Voltage

UK wise I picked up the following stations. I assume some are from the same Mux:

- Eagle 3 (Surrey/Sussex)
- Fire Radio (Bournemouth)
- Heart Berkshire
- Heart Dorset
- Heart Surrey
- Jack FM Berkshire
- Wave 105
