Good to hear another mystery station solved.

E skip quiet today apart from lunchtime when Algeria & Tunisia was received with weak signals for a very short while. Nothing else after.

Looking at the recording I have shows Europa FM fighting with Radio Canela so googling that comes up with this below.

Andy - out of interest when exactly did you get Radio Canela/EuropaFM fighting it out on the same frequency? There's a fair distance between the two of us and I wonder what time your reception was compared to mine? Which as you need to know it was - on June 28th:

11:33 - PI Code: 5158 [Radio Canela]
11:34-44 - PI Code E2ED PS:EUROPAFM
11:59-12:16 PI Code: 5158 PS:8-111-777
12:22-23: PI Code: E200
12:40 PI Code: E2CA [brief]
12:48-12:51 PI Code: 8201 PS:ANTENNA1 {POR}
13:33 E2CA - brief burst

all from the RDSSpy log - as I was at work all day.

I just fascinated by the whole phenomenen of SpE - as it some cases it seems to me reception is concentrated from one small area but received over a wide distance at the other end

This is my first SpE season and to be honest it's been disappointing. I didn't receive any radio today but got a few seconds of Ukrainian tv just using a desktop discone on R1. I definatley prefer tropos both for fm and tv Dx .

Nothing heard via Es here today so another frustrating afternoon watching intense Es over Europe just out of reach.

On a different subject, I'm surprised I can still hear London pirate Genesis Radio frequently fading up now conditions are flat. It even peaks noise-free sometimes.

Hi Dave the recording I was referring to was from 08/07/11 last year sorry for any confusion but we could do with updating fm-list if possible.

Yes this season has been most disappointing so far.

As for tropo we don't get as many openings as we did in the 80/90's happy days.

I have had sod all here for the past couple of days

Ok moan over.

I'm monitoring band 1 at the momment but there's nothing. The last week of june and the first week of july are meant to be the strongest for SpE. I don't know why tropospheric openings are so few in comparison to the 80s and 90s. I guess part of the ingredient is sustained high pressure which we don't get much of anymore. Infact it seems most tropos are scatter or enhancement rather than proper ducting which gives signals real strength and distance. Anyway that's my moan over.

Might have missed some of this sleeper. I turned the tuner on at 6 pm and found a few Italians but it didn't last long, maybe 10 minutes.

I'm getting faint signals in the lower part of the band. Are any of you getting Rds levels ?

It has mostly been patchy signals, only had two or three stations with full RDS.

I'm lucky as I can pick up Q music and 538 under flat conditions plus a few other weaker Dutch stations. Also the band is free from pirates . Other than that no more Dx for me either now.

Yeah I'm starting to enjoy 538 even though I've never been a big dance music fan.

A HUGE Es cloud over Eastern Europe at the moment. Unfortunately it's too far east for the UK to benefit.

I hope something happens later. It's getting frustrating watching the Es over Europe just out of reach.
