A HUGE Es cloud over Eastern Europe at the moment. Unfortunately it's too far east for the UK to benefit.

I hope something happens later. It's getting frustrating watching the Es over Europe just out of reach.
Yes I have been watching Sherlock with interest so I hope something comes.

I got bored with watching paint dry so I have dismantled my radios so I could change the filters in the Denon receiver.

It took me 30 mins to remove the filters and put the SIL sockets in and the replacement filters robbed out of a car radio it took me longer connecting everything back up.

So what are the results well it's definitely better as when I was tuned to 87.8 I could hear Real radio on 88.0 clear but now I just hear a distorted Real so the replacement filters are better than the originals.

I will get some narrower filters for it.

I don't think I have missed anything while the radios were off but I have just had a blank carrier for about a minute on 87.7 so that looks like an horribly strong RSL testing their tx as there are some coming up in july.

So now I wait for some dx while I look at the RSL list.

No you haven't missed anything Andy. Such a shame - it's a large intense Es cloud but it refuses to spread westwards!

I don't know about an e cloud but there's a massive rain cloud hovering at the momment. I've been monitoring band 1 and the radio all day and had nothing. I'll keep doing this until about 9 tonight in hope that something SpE wise will come in.

I have logged IMPULS from czechoslovakia and I logged a station on 87.7 no rds until they spoke in english SKYLINE FM not listed on Ofcom so it a pirate.

The new filters have certainly made a difference on my tuner.

Now what to do about this pirate station.

Gone rather quiet here in the last 20 minutes. Got excited when I heard Middle Eastern music fade up on 87.5 a little earlier, started getting dynamic PS names and then JEDYNKA_ came up and the music revealed itself to be a track by Sting. D'oh! So nothing special so far...

There are no RDS codes shown on FM list - and my PL390 doesn't do RDS anyway - so it's a case of finding the webstream to listen to and hopefully confirm. Also they have funny frequency spacings so a bit more difficult to pin down the exact frequency - FM List gives station +/- 20KHz which is helpful.

I only have band II FM aerials - so I decided to try it - after all nothing to lose. And wow! double hop to Russia/Ukraine. Log is below - and where there is doubt as to the location I've noted it.

Now I'll have to make at least a dipole to go outside.

A report of Istanbul being logged on 87.5 and 87.7 in Blackpool so Andy (radioredcat) you might want to monitor 87.5!

It's all gone quiet here and Skyline fm has gone off air but I have just checked my recordings from earlier as we had visitors and Funradio wiped it out.

I just had a weak signal on 87.6 for about 30 secs but nothing else.

Nice log Dave I would love to try an OIRT radio but I don't know what it would be like here with all the interference here in band 1.

Apart from a very brief fade-up of Poland on 87.5 about 40 minutes ago it has been dead since my post at 7.33 pm. I think that's going to be it for today.

For the past 1.5 hours Italy has been booming logged 11 stations in it's just dropped out for now.

The new filters are doing their job also the radio seems to RDS quicker as well.

I am receiving a station that sounds a bit arabic singing on 87.7 and the audio is over-modulating.

Received on 87.8Mhz from "Torrent/Perentxissa=Calicanto", Valencia, Spain. Playing soft-rock music.

RDS = SI RADIO

FM List does not show power for this station. Does anyone know?

Chris.
