I guess I am missing all this because I'm on vertical? There's nothing coming in from outside the UK
I suspect so Germany is for all intents and purposes horizontal; Austria and Switzerland use horizontal for their higher powered sites.

By the time signals have been through the tropo and other propagation polarization is not that important

Sorry, I don't agree, not regarding Tropo.
Sporadic E can sometimes change the polarization, but Tropo does not.

107.7 Antenne Bayern from Hochries is in here, a new one for me. It was 2 bars with stereo, presently down to 1 bar, but this is the furthest into Germany I've ever had, at 1053 km.

Polarisation does make a difference as I can receive Ireland on vertical but not on horizontal unless the signals are very strong.
Also I am receiving RMC 87.6 on the vertical dipole and not on the FM 3.

I am currently listening to France Musique 88.7 which is booming in here the Sony is an excellent receiver since I fitted the new filters.

I am also receiving Star radio 107.9.

Tv side is dead at the moment.

I had a ride to my favourite spot in the peak district earlier with the XDR and my newly acquired FM3 for portable work, Germany was there on 93.8 104.0 and some other frequencies, Lille, Caen, Rouen and Brest were strong, Luxembourg on 100.7, and Spain on 105.0 (RNE5).

UK stations confirmed:
95.2 BBC Cornwall (fighting with Oxford)
96.1 BBC Solent
96.7 BBC Kent
103.4 BBC Devon (RDS)
103.9 BBC Cornwall (fighting with Wales)
104.0 BBC H&W (RDS)
104.2 BBC Kent
104.6 BBC Glos
plus many more...

Quick tune back at home and its pretty quiet... Lille and a couple of RTBFs knocking about but thats about it.

The FM band is full of tropo from the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria this morning! Switzerland and Austria both up to 2 bars with stereo (Rigi and Bregenz). A bit of a special lift, this one.

Hi Nick,

I got up early this morning. Not much Tropo to report in this part of the world, apart from slightly enhanced reception of Belgium (Egem) 95.7Mhz & 98.6Mhz. Also Netherlands Oemrop Zeeland 87.9Mhz can be heard. All on the vertical antenna (Antiference FM1087, 7 element) in the loft.

Last night I was receiving a French language station on 87.8Mhz vertical. I have no idea what that was.

Chris.

Best night/morning for a couple of years here in Glos - from London, BBC London/Capital/Lbc/Absolute all in stereo, all the usual Oirish suspects booming in ie RTE1/2, Today, Beat 102/Newstalk 106, plus Heart Cornwall 107 in stereo this morning and Pirate 102.2 breaking through around 9pm yesterday. Pity I'm at work now!

Just have the usual Dutch stuff here there really seems to be so much noise around on the PL600 most seems to come from the PC but its not much better in the garden.
Its not the radio though as it goes much better down the beach.
At least DAB is never effected by this interference and London stations come in great on the evoke 2Xt all the time.

I got in bed at 01:30 and got up and it 's like things have been put on pause as France Musique is still booming on 88.7/RMC 87.6/France Inter 99.6/X FM Ireland.

I am receiving Radio London on 94.9 and classic from Rowridge time move my aerials south.

It is going to be one very interesting day today. Just received the following:

88.9 RTL Radio Lėtzebuerg, Luxembourg
92.2. RTE2FM, Republic Of Ireland
94.4 RTE Gaelic, Republic Of Ireland

France & Belgium at very good signals.

Also Wales is well received here, BBC Radio Cymru on 96.8. Looking nice for the rest of the day.

Edit: Luxembourg on 100.7 with full RDS. A first here considering France Bleu normally dominates this frequency.

Did I miss much here in East Anglia last night? I don't think much was going on at all before I went to bed around 23.00 - only a couple of very weak French stations.

If I ever received anything from around Innsbruck or Munich it'd be quite weird hearing stations I heard on holiday there a couple of months ago.

No. Weak French, usual Dutch and Capital radio came in. The French are slightly enhanced today but that's it.

The French signals dropped out around 1 Pm so I now have Wrotham battling with Toaday fm on 100.9 and I am still hearing UCB Ireland on 87.6.

I have received most BBC regions as Tacolneston is still here so I hope dx will be back at dusk.

Conditions here are at 'summertime flat' levels so better than completely flat. I'm hoping we'll get a repeat performance this evening once the temperature drops.

The lift was certainly very widespread this morning. I was listening to RTE RnaG on 94.4 and Today FM 101.8 on the journey into work.

Conditions have dropped compared to this morning, although it seems to be buliding up again. France, Lille & Le Havre in particular are getting stronger here, Guernsey making an appearance as well. Belgium surprisingly quiet for me. Wales has disappeared. Would be good if Spain made it, although it seems the tropo cloud has not gone too far south this time round.

France Musique 88.7 from Lille is making an appearance here now despite being sandwiched between Winter hill and Llangollen.

So hopefully an other good evening of dx.

Wales has made a return on 95.9 & 96.8. Hopefully this means the tropo is extending further west & Ireland might make it too.

Lille is up here, as is Boulogne and Contact FM 93.7.

Did you get any of those exotic goodies from Germany (Bavaria), Switzerland and Austria last night or this morning sleeper?

No. I have not got the setup for getting that far. The furthest for me was Luxembourg. The only time I got Germany & Austria was on E skip.

I have re-checked after taking a break to watch the football & Belgium has finally appeared here. So maybe there is a chance to get Germany etc... if I'm lucky enough.

Ah OK. Remind me, what aerial do you use? I think you have mentioned it before but I've forgotten.

I'll post some recordings in due course. Will have quite a few clips to go through.
