Actually no, it looks like you were safe this time. When I returned home earlier this afternoon, there were only a couple of German stations, then once darkness has settled more started to appear so it has improved over the last two hours.
89.3 HR3 from Großer Feldberg is the most constant station so far here, others appearing at random.

Good timing then!

106.9 now has B5 Aktuell from Grünten, Bavaria, weak at present.

Conditions are definitely on the up. Location is North Mansfield

Signal 1 on 102.6 MHz from Alsagers Bank, Stoke on Trent is being recieved with fading here, and on 88 MHz a ?German? station is booming in, full stereo, but I've got no RDS on my Sony 7600G.

Seems like the lift conditions are further north than last night!

If I move to a different part of my flat I get an English station. The only rational explanation I can give is that the German tropo is so strong that it's knocking out the Dutch.”

Hi folks,

I drove out to my favourite DX place (near the Louth by-pass, Lincolnshire), today.

Having just received my amateur radio Foundation Licence, I took my 2 Metre hand-held to this site, and heard a German Repeater on 145.600Mhz. From the bits I could understand in the conversations, the operators were talking about "QTH = Aachen", and travelling near "Frankfurt". So I don't yet know where this repeater is. My guess is Langenberg, near Aachen, as I've received EinsLive (106.7Mhz) from this TX before.

I also heard German and French FM Band II radio on frequencies I would have expected to hear Dutch stations.
I've not looked up the TX sites for these, but was receiving the following German stations at around 15:00 GMT:-
87.6Mhz HR3, 102.5Mhz and 104.3Mhz HR4.

On 102.7Mhz I heard French, with time pips up to 15:00 GMT. I didn't get the station ID.

The above stations were received on just the car's own antenna, not on my Triax FM4 (which I left at home)

Good DX,

Chris (M6NDT).

Congratulations on getting your license Chris. I'm receiving bbc locals such as radio Humberside and the Germans are now Rdsing.

As far as the G8 goes its absolutely excellent. If it had rds it would be the perfect portable fm Dx machine.

Congrats on your license Chris! I shall listen out for you! =)
The Dutch are now slowly coming in stronger!

Congratulations Chris! That is good to hear.

The French language station on 102.7 could be RTBF La Première from Profondeville. It would fit the conditions.

Thanks Nick, Matt and Alex for your congrats. I kept quiet about it until I'd passed the exam .

MY Humax DTT receiver is showing signs of German and Dutch TV on channels 37 & 39. (I'm getting "The channel is scrambled or not available", which means it's nearly strong enough to produce a picture).

73s,

Chris.

Are you getting anything on FM Chris? Surprised to receive AFN The Eagle on 98.7 here just about in stereo despite Wrotham on 98.8!

There aren't anymore Triax FM3s so only option is to repair the broken director element, or better still replace it. Any ideas?

No continental stuff appearing here in Bristol still!

Towards the Midlands is enhanced though with the West Midlands regionals coming in; even a faint BBC WM to the side of BBC Somerset. BBC Hereford & Worcester on 94.7 is coming in with RDS and Free Radio is strong on 97.6 from Ridge Hill (both are usually there but noisy). Also a faint Free Radio Coventry on 97.0 and Touch FM Stratford on 102.0.

Sorry to hear of your lack of DX Adam.

Still a very busy/mushy band with Germany on many frequencies. SWR 1 RP on 99.1 has been one of the better and more consistent signals. Quite unusual as normally Classic 21 is the standard signal that comes through on this channel when there's a lift.

Teutoburger Wald has also been at good strength, so the lift is extending further north into Germany than it was yesterday.

All you need is a couple of metres of 10mm or 3/8th ali tubing - then cut it to length - drill a suitable sized hole half-way along and the job's done. You might be able to get from a local scrap yard - but you can get small lengths over the internet

It sounds an amazing lift if you're in the right location!

I bet it's good up in my old favourite spot on top of Bathampton Down in Bath. The problem is I don't have any time to head up there.

Maybe something'll appear on my way to Wiltshire in the morning.

I just heard France Info on 105.2 coming through with Capital on 105.1. Also just had Lincs FM on 102.2 coming through, on the Eton G3 in my house.

Hi Nick,

I'm glad I rang you. My Blaupunkt radio was full of German and French stations that I've never heard before. Things have gone a bit quieter now. 99.1Mhz has returned to BBC Radio 1 (was SWR 1 RP). I've also lost AFN on 98.7Mhz.
France INTER is still strong (with RDS) on 97.9Mhz, completely overpowering BBC Radio 1 from Sutton Coldfield .

73s good DX,

Chris. M6NDT

I know it really is a fantastic lift.

Bayern 2 is in on 96.0 (Ochsenkopf) and 91.6 (Cham/Hoher Bogen), both of which are right near the Czech border. Signals are weak.

Edit: MDR Figaro on 87.9 is now easy stereo, the best signal yet from this transmitter (Inselsberg).

And now Bayern 1 on 93.7 from Wendelstein.

I have had a field day french/german stations as well as French tv and I still listening to SWR4 K7 from Rheinland-Pfalz Donnersberg solid reception and RDS since 18:00 although things are weakening now.

Fortunately I had nothing on today so I have been stuck in my chair but I never thought this was going to happen absolutely brilliant the best opening since I started fm dx.
