I'm receiving Sublime FM on 90.7MHz, from The Netherlands, here in Lincoln.

I am also getting some Dutch tropo, though nowhere near as strong as before, you think the E's I have been receiving has anything to do with it?

Your audio clip sounds like Norwegian or Swedish (both languages sound very similar).

SP-E won't reduce any tropo reception, as the two types of propagation are not related at all.

As you've heard, SP-E is noticeable by its rapid fading, compared to tropo reception, with its slow fading.

Sporadic E is the E layer of the ionosphere (about 75 miles up).

Tropo (the troposphere) is much lower down and is affected by (caused by) the weather, as we know it.

Sporadic E produces long skip because the point of reflection is much higher up than the troposphere, which tends to refract (bend) the signals round the curvature of the Earth during what we call "lift" conditions.

The whole propagation thing is a lot more involved than that, but the above gives a rough idea of how things happen

Chris.

PS. Link to Sublime FM 90.7MHz, which I received earlier

It's been a good tropo in the East Midlands. I've had two pick ups from Belgium- Studio Brussel on 102.1 and BTRN Radio 2 on 98.6 last night - coming through very well - in fact both were quite clear 0.1MHz down as well.

DAB radio was picking up Oxford multiplex on scan but bubbled when chosen.

Some of the BBC/Classic transmitters are still enhanced. Yesterday afternoon Wrotham Radio 2 produced RDS in the car and I was also getting a couple of quite clear signals from Egem on that radio.

A big opening to Algeria & Spain here for the last hour or so, up to the top of the band.

Just had a 4 minute stable signal of Europa FM 87.9, wow I didn't even know that was possible via E's, sounded more like tropo!!

Think I could be hearing Algeria on 87.7. There are two presenters who seem to be speaking different languages. One of the languages is French but it didn't click straight away because of the accent. Presumably the other is Arabic.

Forgot to mention that we are in Exminster, nr Exeter, this week, so any DXing I am doing is via the car radio. It's in a dip here so I'm not expecting miracles.

Yesterday evening was a good'n though. Even North Hessary Tor on 92.5 was getting battered by opera at one point during the opening!

More E-skip this evening with the main line of propagation going from Catalunya through the Balearics & down to Algeria. Italy was also heard on 94.7 (RAI Radio 1) & 98.7. Still going on now although much weaker than earlier.

I have been getting the same for over a hour, started with Algeria slowly fading in, then Spain came strong and now it seems to be Algeria sticking around with a few Spanish stations around!

Tunisia & Italy over the last 40 minutes or so with a particularly good signal from Shems FM at one point on 101.7. It overpowered Wenvoe and came up with RDS!

I've had a good listen- All I seem to be able to gather is that it's some sort of English Language tuition from the Barcelona/Catalunya area. FMlist.org is a complete blank on this one.

That's Vaughan Radio 97.1 from Murcia. Vaughan is a Spanish 'learn English' radio network. There's an ID at 2:17 in that clip.
