Same here Nick. Plus some autologs from 05:00+
These sound like the sort of piddling Es which are never going to get going, hovering around or below the bottom of the band. Good DX! John |

Spanish stations are coming and going at the moment as I had EUROPAFM and a few unid's and sherlock is showing nothing for fm.
Last night the band was buzzing and sherlock showed nothing on fm but did on 70mhz. I am going to upload the suspected cyprus recording shortly. Andy |

Spain was all over the band this morning, but seems to have died down now.
I logged COPE on 102.0 |

Ended, although since the signals are being received at random intervals throughout the day, there should be more later.

ANTENA 1 has just appeared on 87.7.
I have taken Johns advice on setting up FM LIST I have setup my co-ordinates and now I am sat there wondering what do I do now with it. Is there any tutorials for this or can anyone offer any advice? Andy |

Like I said, it takes a bit of getting used to, but it's worth it in the end. Check your PM Andy. Cheers John Quote:

Andy Then they were definitely Algeria, 87.7 was Radio Chlef since I checked the webstream which matched. All gone here too. Edit: Es have returned. Portugal very strong now. |

I got in quite late tonight and surprised to find 'arabic' music on what thought was 87.7 but by the time I got myself settled and actually tuned around it was actually on 87.6 and lasted from around 22:15to as late as 22:50.Peaked as high as 25dB on the Sony - definitely better on the vertical. Then at 20:40 whilst hunting up the band I found exactly the same station on 90.7 which also lasted to around 22:50. I had each tuned on a different radio and audio out on both at the same time - so no doubt. And just as the music ended and an announcer came on - it faded
Shallowfire - were your station all playing arabic/asian music that went on and on?? No RDS - and because on Sunday I decided to go back to using a soundcard interface for RDSSpy I couldn't record the audio - I was hoping for a PI code but nothing! According to what's in FM List there aren't two transmitters outputting the same program on those two frequencies from any of the arabic countries - and not from any of the other countries who might have similar music (eg Jordan, Lebanon, the ex USSR 'stans) and have found nothing. So then next step - was it religious music - which countries might play that music? So far - I've found FYR republic of Macedonia with MR1 Radio Skopje on both 87.6 and 90.7 - but no idea if the station would play that type of music. Going through a lot of other countries - lquite a number didn't even have a transmitter listed on one or both frequencies. Yes it was all the same Arabic music. No doubt you probably had the same station. |

E skip ended a while ago. Interesting to see that northern Spain is being received more often this season, since normally its southern Spain that dominates the Spanish Es most of the time.

Hi Andy. If it is the man just a few seconds into the recording then he is speaking Italian. Sorry to disappoint. John Quote:

Yes these all sound like Italians on the audio Andy. In fact, the Italian man at the start of the recording sounds distorted as if the tuner is off channel. Perhaps it was on 87.6 or 87.8? It sounds like the IF filtering on the Denon is wide. Is it stock?
So not Cyprus this time. Sorry. |

Heard during yesterdays huge opening, this interestingly different folk music on 90.5 at 1103 UTC/12.03 pm BST:
https://www.box.com/s/713ddd8e73084789347c Can anyone tell me where it might be from? I was wondering maybe Romania or Hungary or is it somewhere further afield? Thanks. Hmmm. Probably a Romanian or maybe a Bulgarian although nothing immediately obvious jumps out on FMLIST. Another intriguing signal that got away...

Unattended monitoring on 87.7 from 07:48 on gave me two RDS signals.
E251 RAC1 Spain- the first time stamp on the RDSSpy log was 09:50 and then three more logs with the last one timed at 09:55 - but the first one who there a long time according to the SDSSpy recording - peaking to 0% BER at times. Unfortunately 3 transmitter sites to choose from. 7205 ----OU--. which is Radio Tatauoine from Tunisia. I carefully checked the group analyser on the RDSSpy recording and found five valid blocks - two with TA, one with OU and one with IN with a couple of gaps between. Bitrate error was 63% for a very brief period. So I would say that at this point (11:08BST) the station was strong enough to trigger RDSSpy even though it was on 87.6! I have confirmed the validity of this assumption - Wrotham on 91.3 is giving full RDS on RDSSpy with BER of up to 15% when the Sony is tuned to 91.4 and giving distorted audio. That is with 41dB when on tune. |
