A huge enhancement to SE England/NE France here with e.g. things like Fun Radio Boulogne on 88.9 in. Lille is very strong and so are signals from Sussex/Kent. Some Germans too e.g. NDR Info on 87.9 (weak) and WDR 4 100.5, WDR 1 Live 106.7 (with QRM). The band is very crowded and a mess in places!

Here in Lincolnshire today we have low cloud from the North Sea

http://www.sat24.com/en/eu

The powerhouse TXs at Holme Moss, Pontop Pike and Tacolneston are also affected by this low cloud (sea fog). This is probably helping the Tropo. The sun may burn off the low cloud and Tropo would most likely be lost as a result.

I am receiving many Dutch and Belgian Band II FM stations this morning.

The Dutch UHF digital TV TXs on CH 39 are not quite strong enough for pictures, but they must have been strong during the night, as the EPG (electronic programme guide) has loaded.

Hi Chris, yes the low cloud is here in North Lincolnshire too but Tropo is still strong, Dutch must have been strong in the night as I left my tuner on 95.2 Slam FM and when I woke up it had the lines on the display, meaning sometime in the night the signal got strong enough for RDS, and that doesn't happen very often on Slam FM for some reason.

Hi Matt,

Yes, I received Slam FM on 95.2MHz this morning (no RDS).

It's a nuisance that the Sony ST-SB920 loses RDS info, if the signal fades.
The Blaupunkt Casablanca CD52 retains RDS, even if the signal disappears.

Cheers,

Chris.

A good Arabic station on 87.9. However, despite wandering around the garden, and getting a good stereo signal, it wouldn't give an RDS. It faded out just before the hour, and possible station announcement - of course!!

It was most likely from Algeria. They don't have RDS yet!
Next time you receive it, try 87.6MHz (Chaine 3).
A lot of North African stations use French (their second language), so don't confuse it with receiving France.

cheers,

Chris.

Last night at around 21:00 the signals were very strong. On the car radio (east coast of lincs) I got RDS on SKYRADIO (101.2), SLAM (95.2), Q Music (100.1 and 100.7), 5 3 8 (102.7), DECIBEL (97.6 and 98.0), RADIO 2 (91.8 and 92.6) and INFO (French on 105.2). The band was crammed full of (mainly) Dutch stations strong enough to hesr, but not strong enough top lock RDS, but there were also some french and german stations there too. The whole band was active (as was Dutch terrestrial TV).

We have sea mist in today, there are still some stations there above the noise (Sky, Q music, Decibel and France Info).

Finally hearing Germany, on the dining room hi-fi! Working my way up the band, starting with 87.6 playing James Arthur - Impossible.

Also 90.3...90.5...92.3. OK, I think I'll stop for now. Let's just say the band is getting full!

Possibly Denmark too!

France 105.2 (Info)”

More RDS locks
Freez FM (RDSing on 98.7), Radio 4 NL on 94.8, 88.6 (3FM) - this last one is interesting because RDS pulls it in and then immediately retunes to BBC R3 on 90.9 (which of course is a totally different station). 88.0 is Radio 2 (NL), not Radio 3 as previously stated. NDR1 on 95.8 and 91.1.
