Yes that is Romanian

There were signals on the band here from Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Italy (short-lived) and probably a few other countries. I think I may have heard Romanian on 89.4.

The Es season this year is excellent. The conditions over the last 3 days has been more like June than early August!

Yes that is Croatian. HR stands for Hrvatski Radio i Televizje (or something like that). 88.3 is from the Vinkovci/Borinci transmitter according to FM List.

In the car on the way to work this morning I heard a mystery classical music station on 102.6. I know Classic FM doesn't broadcast on that frequency and it faded before I could hear any presenters or jingles. Any ideas?

Hi Catherine. It's probably RTBF Musiq' 3 from Tournai in Belgium. It's a regular here.

Belgium and France up,almost noise free on certain frequencies such as 103.7. This has suddenly come from nowhere.

Not so much atmospherics as the signals are audible pretty much all the time, but I took my Netbook with SDR# installed and Noxon DAB+ USB stick up onto Berry Head here near Brixham in Devon and got some decent reception from the Caen/Mont Pinçon Radio France stations with RDS data.

France Bleu Basse Normandie is the strongest up there as long as you can null out Heart from Mendip by being on the south-facing slope; it's largely there noise free with RDS but with one deep fade every 5-10 minutes or so. Mont Pinçon is a long way over the horizon.

Confirmation of my reception of Radio Kiepenkerl on 107.4 via email below

"Dear Mr Gilly,

we are very surprised that you received our station
Radio Kiepenkerl in north hampshire.(www.radiokiepenkerl.de.)

At 8.04 you've heard Andreas Kramer of our morning team.

FM 107,4 transmitts with the power of 1000W from Cosfeld.
We never had a so long-distance radio reception with our station.

Best regards

Major Es opening to Italy at present. Chaos reigns supreme!

During the short but intense Italian SpE opening between 7.30 to aprox 8pm tonight the muf extended right up to 108Mhz. Some of our local stations were being competly swamped out. There were so many stations Fading in and out the levels of co channel and adjacent interference was really high causing RDS to struggle. Managed to I'd these though;
89.00 BABULIO station announcement and pop music
92.70 STEREO Italian speech poss adverts
94.50 SUBASIO Female Italian premier
Earlier today at around about 2pm local time there was another short but intense opening from Portugal;
ANTENA 1 on 88.10 and 95.70
ANTENA 3 on 105.00

Nice log Catherine.

There's been some tropo here the last couple of days but only to SE England/N France and Belgium with fair signals. Nothing exciting. I did get RDS from France Musique Brest on 89.4 on the way in to work this morning though.

Doesn't seem so good so far tonight.

France Musique on 95.6 coming in perfectly in Brighton, they are relaying tonight's BBC Proms live but BBC Radio3 seems to be doing it with 30 minute delay.This morning various arabic language stations coming in and out but could not identify any of them.

I passed two separate gangs of builders today in Brighton and was surprised that they both had radios tuned to BBC Sussex.
