German stations were strong this morning along with Luxy 100.7 as they were at 01:45 when I retired but the same stations as yesterday.
By mid afternoon they started subsiding and now this evening just left with HR 3 87.6/WDR 5 90.3 both weak so it looks like the end of a good opening. Andy |

Not much left here now from Germany, just one or two signals, 100.5 WDR 4 being the most consistent. There was plenty of activity this morning but again I didn't have much time to listen. I did note MDR Figaro on 87.9 though as well as a probable Bad Marienberg on 95.4.

The Hepburn maps look good for the next few days and indicate that tropo should be starting today. At last it's starting to lift up here but only the usuals like Lille, Essex, Tacolneston, Swingate etc. Also London pirate Unique FM in on 101.2. I'm hoping it will be better in the morning.

Getting loads of continental repeaters on the 2 mtr Amateur band tonight, also the new Surrey & North Sussex MUX on 10C is almost end stop here in North London.
Edit: Just remembered that the Surrey & North Sussex MUX has a transmitter at Crystal Palace, so it's no wonder it's almost end stop here - what a bozo.

BBC Radio Norfolk on 104.4 being completely swamped here by Radio Cymru (full RDS) on 104.3 and BBC Radio Derby on 104.5.
Boths Lincs FM (102.2) and BBC Radio Lincs (94.9) enhanced to full RDS. Getting Radio Cymru on 96.8 Also, Radio Oxford on 95.2 blasting in here. Picked up BBC Surrey for the first time too on 104.6, blocking Radio Suffolk. |

Good conditions with enhanced reception to the south midlands and East Anlgia. Main network stations from North Hessary Tor, Rowridge, Wrotham, Crystal Palace, Tacolneston, Peterborough, Oxford and Sutton Coldfield all very strong with RDS. A new one for me was BBC Bow Brickwall on 104.5Mhz and Tony Blackburn doing a lunchtime slot on R Berkshire heard loud and clear on 104.10Mhz from Hannington. No French stations heard. All on a portable radio with its telescopic rod aerial.

I did photograph the ID's though, the last pic shows the signal strength here in London. http://i41.tinypic.com/25a10kl.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/24fel5e.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/eki88p.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/2cohgyx.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/ld5kg.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/24nij4l.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/2aetkjk.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/a5hv6d.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2it2b2u.jpg - Multiplex signal strength. |

Hi KnobTwiddler, Your DAB+ reception from Germany is very encouraging! Today I've erected a new antenna mast, after the previous one was destroyed by last week's storm force winds, here in Lincolnshire. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...psd750025f.jpg While the antennas were down, I serviced them and changed the Band III part from horizontal to vertical polarisation (for DXing DAB), when I get my Roberts Stream 83i. This internet/DAB/FM radio is able to connect to an external antenna and receives DAB+. (I've checked. See quote below) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roberts-Stre...ert+stream+83i "BigEd says: Will this radio work on German DAB+ broadcasts, which have now taken over from the previous DAB, rendering my old Pure Evoke 1 useless? BigEd says: I contacted Roberts, and they replied to the effect that the UK model will work on DAB+. As a result, I bought it and am very happy, saving well over EUR100 by ordering from the UK." 73s, Chris 2E0NDT |

BBC Oxford on 95.2
I got BBC Oxford on 95.2 coming in clear. I am near the top end of the River Trent where it meets the Ouse and Humber. I hope this changes to BBC Radio Cornwall which is on 95.2 as I got BBC Devon a couple of Months back trying to wipe out Radio Hallam on 103.4.

Trying 7A now, but it's significantly weaker. |

Hey Chris,
I have a Roberts Stream 205 which also picks up DAB+, how are you connecting yours to a external antenna? Does it have a port? Mine only has a telescopic antenna so not sure how I'd do it. Cheers, Matt. |
