Well, last week I was a big fan of Steve, after two average weeks, I thought he was coming into his own, and judging by the number of people that made his performance their fav too, alot of people agreed.

But tonight, I don't know, it was a weird one. I thought he sang it well, technically at least. But, although I hate to agree with Louis, there wasn't really a spark there, it was kinda clinical. It felt like he was playing it safe, didn't want to put a note wrong, kinda singing by numbers.

Perhaps it was just the song choice, but the "Xfactor" I saw last week seem to desert him this. Anyone else agree?

He was good, but not great, hope he can swing it back round next week and we can see another great performance, anyway.

p.s. I wasnt fooled for a minute by the fake drama about the last minute song change, that's starting to become a bit of a tired ploy. "You only have 12 hours to practice this song". Yeah, whatever Simon

Steve's performance was dull and listless. And I really do not understand why his team said they didn't want him to do songs by other soul singers any more to avoid comparisons being made, and then got him doing a song so intimately associated with Gladys Knight that comparisons were BOUND to be made.

He was flat on a couple of notes as well. He may well be sexy, but he was boring as hell last night

I think Steve is going to win this. He's not my fav; after G4 have gone, I'd prefer Tabby, Ro or Cassie (in that order) to win but Steve has incredible support it seems.

I didn't think was soul- less last night, I love his voice. I do think that Sharon and Louis are completely rattled by his popularity and are attempting to shatter his confidence with ridiculous comments.

It annoys me when you hear them say, about any acts, they are a one trick pony, the acts can only sing in their own genre - how ridiculous, if Steve wins he will win it on being a soul singer, I really can't see him doing heavy metal or reggae any time soon Louis, especially, needs to stop expermenting with G4 "so you can see their versatility" it has done them no favours whatsoever.

I do believe this contest is now between only two acts, Tabby and Steve, and whatever the judges say or do their fan bases are there and will support them on previous performances if they have a bad week.

Steve is the only one whose cd I would actually pay money for. And bearing in mind that G4 make every single song they sing sound the same (even the ridiculous Britney number), the one trick pony comment was ludicrous.

Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and lots of other big star singers sang mostly ballads. If Steve ends up a one trick pony like those artists he won't be doing so bad!

I wasn't a Steve fan particularly but I'm beginning to warm to him.The last two weeks have been classy performances imo.
I also think Sharon is not helping her own cause by being so personal with her comments about him.She was my favourite judge up until that point last night and now I think she was unnecessarily nasty.
At least when Simon makes a bad comment you know where he's coming from and he says something like he thinks the styling is wrong. She was very personal about her comments about both his appearance and his style of singing.

......maybe I have a hearing problem but I didn`t think that G4`s Britney number sounded REMOTELY like Circle of Life. They are remarkably versatile, even Simon said "No other band on this earth could do Britney and Circle of Life in the space of one week"

No, he said they had 12 hours to decide on a song that he was going to sing - he still had a week to work on it.

If your hearing is that bad, you really shouldn't be commenting on the performances!!!

I think Simon is the only judge who is doing himself any favours. Who would have thought that prior to the competition?!

I don't think it was Steve's best performance however I still enjoyed his performance better than anyone else on the night - He is the only one who I would buy a cd beacuse he Is the only one wh has a nice different sort of voice that I could listen to for hours.

..... I think Sharon`s "one trick pony" comment will stick in people`s minds. That, and the image last night was "Sunday morning - just got out of bed, crumpled shirt and don`t even mention shave" look. Very dated in my opinion. WEAR A JACKET STEVE. You too can look as sexy and classy as G4. Make an effort!!!!

I'd agree with that, Steve has a lot of support, but IMO he's a safe option, nice bloke, nice voice, but nothing that excites me.

You can only say that after next weeks show surely. As many people are saying about G4's 'loyal fan base' dissapearing. LoL.

Not going to happen before G4 thought is it? Have you seen the polls at the top of the page, they've not been wrong yet have they? I have a lot of respect for G4, their fans on this board were part of that, that seems to be breaking down a bit today

Well isn't Sharon's one-trick pony comment just the pot calling the kettle black? Has Cassie ever sung anything other than ballads? Sharon should think before she opens her mouth. I would love to see Cassie do something a bit different too. I loved Steve's singing comeback.

I know you are a G4 fan Penny, and I don't mean to offend you. Obviously we all have different takes on all of the artists on the show. And I wholeheartedly agree that G4 have wonderful, powerful voices... but personally I couldn't even recognise their song as Circle of Life until they sang the actual words. All their songs do sound the same to me. Their brand of classical pop just doesn't float my boat. If do I want to listen to classical singers, I tend to go for the more traditional ones like Bocelli. Or Pavarotti in his day.

Also, (to my shame, I have to say, because I KNOW it is completely unfair on them!) I loathe Louis Walsh with the heat of a thousand suns. That also has an unfortunate effect on my opinion of his artists.

OUCH! Get her! . Well andy1973 thought the same thing as me, not what youre saying, so I'm not sure you're right, unless you have further insight of the song selection process than me (I only watch the main show). Are you saying they have to choose a song and submit it by monday morning and are not allowed to change it or something?

Oh yeah, I think he's definately in with a great shout, if fact don't get me wrong, Steve is probably still my favourite (I tend to be a "floating voter" type though ), because I thought he was great the week before and wiped the floor with just about everyone else.

But "this week" (gets a bit confusing with the performance being near the end of the traditional week) it just wasn't as good. It was still one of the best performances of the night, but it didn't have that special extra something that was evident the week before, so I was alittle disappointed.
