Following on from my Jazz Appreciation thread, here is one on the Blues. This is the place to discuss everything related to the music genre and the musical form of Blues from it's roots in the deep south of the US to the Blues Rock we enjoy today. Discuss your favourite musicians and songs, and what the Blues mean to you.

Let's have some links

King Solomon Hill - http://youtu.be/sO1l41xvsUQ

Robert Johnson - http://youtu.be/O8hqGu-leFc

Jimmie Rogers - http://youtu.be/gbzc77Tz6PA

John Lee Hooker - http://youtu.be/wSnQ0bdHW0s

Muddy Waters - http://youtu.be/c0_eRVroLqs

Stevie Ray Vaughan - http://youtu.be/NU0MF8pwktg

Rory Gallagher - http://youtu.be/-k4iocWURPk

ZZ Top - http://youtu.be/pN69GC2amTg

Joe Bonamassa - http://youtu.be/jMXXnLSRdBE

B B King http://youtu.be/f6gDeGdQ3rM

There, I think I have covered a good cross-section of Blues

I like the Blues, mainly the post-war electric stuff from the likes of Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and B.B. King. I also like the blues as played by Jazz bands in the twenties and thirties, not to mention some of the British blues bands of the sixties (i.e. those led by John Mayall and Alexis Korner and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac).

Not so keen on the vintage acoustic form of the Blues.

He features in the BB King link

He was an intentional omission in an attempt to start a discussion.

This thread has a serious lack of Howlin' Wolf.

Brilliant, thanks. This is one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs. I have it lined up and ready to play once I have a bit of peace and quiet!

I saw SRV @ Reading in 1983, he was absolutely amazing and it is something I'll always remember. I had tickets to see him @ Hammersmith Odeon, as it was then, tragically he died in the helicopter crash the week before the gig.

Here are a couple more, though....

George Thorogood & The Destroyers - Who Do You Love
Sherman Robertson - Sweet Home Chicago
Walter Trout - Red House
Jeff Healey Band - Roadhouse Blues
Blackfoot-Train Train

And I'm amazed no one has added anything by....

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Hey Joe / Sunshine Of Your Love
