I would say in many cases it is better - as the public are beginning to loose faith in reality talent shows.

Tabby is certainly better off not winning.

Kirsty was top 10 and came out first - a great blessing for us and her. Although she would not have though that 12 months ago!

And I would suggest some of those in the early stages will also get picked-up too.

Good to have a post from someone who knows the business from the other side.

In answer to another thread about who had the "X-Factor" I put my hand up for Cassie Compton. If you saw her at all on this show I would be interested to hear your opinion !

Thanks Musicman, I thought Kirsty was great and it was a great shock that she went. You are right about the show and the winners, BMG are death to developing an artist and are just after a quick buck. Good luck to you both

Cassie was great, but, sorry, there is always a but! She did not really have something that stood out to make her VERY unique. Great voice for sure, but thats not always enough. I would suggest she went and got some solid experience playing live and performing first - maybe theatre. Its a tough market out there.

Thats correct, but we have moved her on from PI and the image they portrayed. They dont want to sell records, they want telephone calls.

In some ways Im pleased when people dont remember her as I want her to earn her work and music sales on ability and performance, not on the back of PI, or any other reality show. Hopefully someone like cassie will follow in Kirsty's foot steps in terms of career development. It is the best way.

Yes I agree with that but it must be nice when they do remember her coz it means there was something about her that stood out.

Thanks, Im pleased to come on a forum like this. First time for me!

Thanks for your comments - its nice to talk to people about the business, there are so many myths around and so many 'simon cowells' on line it scares me!

Yes it is nice too, but so many people are quick to judge people on these shows and have views like she is crap or she is great...do you know what I mean!? Very view have balanced views. All finalists have talent, its just what people can do to develop it to a marketable person.

Thanks for your comments

www.kirstyc.com is run by fans from the original show, but not by us. We have just launched a new site for her www.kirstyofficial.com. Lots to do as its brand new site. Getting ready for the new year. Sorry if i sound like im selling her to you now - thats not why I came on-line!

All had talent - and i dont think a rational person could disagree.

Tabby stands out for me. Not any I would sign though as not really the type of artists we work with.

Didnt really see the Roweta thing - great voice, but was always a risk she could end up like Michelle Mcmanus from PI. Quick fix then rapid fizzle out. Obviously only my personal view. Mentioned Cassie previously - theatre shoud be her approach at the moment.

She plays keyboard and is currently developing her guitar skills further. I want her to play both instruments well. She has already done some co-writing and is proving very successful - as its tough!

First of all: The judges "managing" their acts after the competiton for the most part is pure propaganda; Tabby's fan base would surely get the hump if Simon was officially unveiled as his manager, whereas TV (and his main audience) identify him with Sharon. Same with Louis and G4.

Second and in sort of response to musicman: Simon said it himself, cream always rises to the top and talent will always sell. Reality music shows have never really been about talent but the sob story that goes along with the contestant. There are exceptions, like Marc Dillon from PI2, who missed a wonderful opportunity through his own ignorance, but for the most part reality TV has always been about whether the audience are made to care about the individual's personality/upbringing/misgivings/whatever rather than their voice.

[quote=pennycandle]........and it looks very likely that Louis will be managing G4 (he has said as much on This Morning)......<snip> QUOTE]

I'm confused. I thought that whoever won, they had to sign to Simon Cowell's label. I thought that's the whole reason why Jon's outburst against Simon C last week was so ill-advised.

Also, if ArtyAttack's thread-opener is correct then Simon C has already chosen the winner's song, which would also imply that Simon will end up managing the band.

All help unconfusing ojs well received!

I think Louis is expecting to manage G4, which makes you question how much he thinks they will win

People identify Louis with G4 (as I said in my post above).. therefore to have him be seen as their manager is better for PR, especially when Jonathan and Simon have had their little squabbles. Or, to go a step further, look at Will Young. He's signed to S Records but publically says he has hardly anything to do with Simon, which is a blatant lie.
