Morrissey/the Smiths

About six months ago, I REALLY got into The Smiths for the first time. Prior to this happening, I was doing quite a bit of music journalism and considered myself a huge music fan. Since I've discovered The Smiths and how INCREDIBLE they are, I really feel like I will never be able to enjoy any other music ever again! Such depth to the songs and lyrics, so brilliant, it's impossible to compare to anything else.

This is an interesting way to feel I know, as I'm almost making it sound like a negative thing that I love them so much...but I was wondering if anyone else feels the same way?!

I have just written a blog about it here:

Please feel free to have a read. Any feedback/discussion would be greatly appreciated!

I LOVE the Smiths. Their music is incredible. Morrissey can be a bit of a knobhead though but I try to over look that and just concentrate on the music. (:

Really? I find some of the things he has said and done quite ignorant. He's still a genius of a musician though.

The Smiths were a brilliant one-off, but i wouldn't advise anyone to venture beyond Viva Hate with solo Morrissey. He's been repeating himself increasingly less poetically for a long time now.

HIs run of singles & albums in the 90's is as poor as anyone's i can think of, but nothing can lessen the genius of The Smiths.
