Brucie Bonus?
What do people think about Bruce Forsyth continuing to present the show? I feel for a man in his seventies he is doing remarkably well, but I also feel that he is out of step (pardon the pun) with the bright and breezy format of the show. Last night some of his jokes were so awful that no one even spotted that the lines were meant to be funny. Also sometimes he can cut across what the judges are saying as if he is trying to get the point across about how much he knows about dancing. He kept going on about Roger Black's "Rise and fall" - and left the judges very little time to make their comments.
What does anyone else think? Just to make it clear that I do like Bruce, and I think over the years he has been a fantastic entertainer, but I think this live show might be one too many for him. If his bits were taped I'm sure he would find it easier and the audience would find it easier to watch. |

I agree, although Bruce is doing well for his age, I don't think he comes across well doing live shows like SCD. It annoys me when he tries to hush the audience just to say a line that isn't really funny. Also, I'm not keen on when he tries to do an example of the dance himself. If anyone should be doing this, it should be the judges!

For me, Bruce is the only thing in SCD that I really don't like. I hate the way that he has to keep hushing the judges (who have interesting things to say) so that he can ply us with his drivel.
I hate his drooling too, which just cheapens the whole thing. The contestants and dancers may look great, but Bruce often forgets that they are talented and sophisticated professionals who night not appreciate being leered at. I'm as red blooded as the next bloke, but I'd expect a slap from Erin or Camilla if I only commented on their athletic physiques after their performances. |

Bruce is typical of any 70 yr old around today, opinionated , rambling , boring and unfunny. When hes talking i long for the dancers or even the singers to do their stuff. Hes so bad even Natasha looks good at presenting in comparison and shes a worse dancer than him!! ![]() Having said that SCD wouldn't be the same without him, a show like this needs a cheesey guy to host it so he may be naff but he is needed. What a great idea - I'd like to see Len Goodman drag Arlene around the floor for a foxtrot. Or see those two ponces have a waltz together , but who would lead

I tell you who I'd like to present the show now that he's not taking part in the dancing - Anton du Beke!

I like Bruce but do agree that he can ramble on at times. Have to say i think Natasha keeps him in line alot better than Tess does!

Just think Brucie should retire. Television presenting has lost it's vaudeville origins, and sometimes less is more.I dont like Natasha though. She has no warmth or charm. |
