DS Strictly Twists & Sequins Real Time - Week 3
After our latest casualty MWalker1066 (Matthew) & Katya danced out of the competition, the remaining couples return to take on either a Jive or Paso Doble. Aswell as choosing a song choice suitable for their dance, each couple had to describe the staging for their performance. The judges marks are based 50% on the song choice and 50% on the staging so both is as important as the other. Their performance is more crucial than ever as this weeks twist means they must BEAT or MATCH last weeks score in order to remain in the competition. Any couples who successfully manage this will be safe and through to dance in week 4. Any couples who do not manage to do this will have to choose a new song choice and dance AGAIN tomorrow in place of the usual results show. The couple who then finishes bottom of the leader board on the re-dances will automatically leave the competition
So that the twist wasn’t a “punishment” for the couples who did well, the top 3 couples from last week, StigOfTheKrump, edy10 and rosco2010 will be allowed a 2 point lea-way on their marks….. Here is a reminder of last weeks leaderboard before we begin…………… LEADERBOARD FROM WEEK 2 1. StigOfTheKrump (Luke) & Karen - 35 2. edy10 & Brendan - 32 3. rosco2010 & Erin - 31 4=_NiallDEE_ & Camilla - 30 4=Camis (Julie) & Vincent - 30 4=Topaz & Matthew - 30 5. Tall Paul & Lilia - 29 6. Malik24 & Nicole - 28 7. tinyangel (Helen) & Darren - 27 8=MWalker1066 (Matthew) & Katya - 26 8=IzzieStar & Ian - 26 9. pothuthic & Flavia – 20 Can they do it? Will they all make it through? Will they all have to re-dance? Lets see……………………… |

The first couple onto the floor tonight with their Jive to Olly Murs’ ‘Dance With Me Tonight’……………………..
Please welcome StigOfTheKrump (Luke) & Karen Hardy ……………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3EG4olrFjY&ob=av2e Dressed in purple outfits, Karen will start the dance in a spotlight on the stage when the singing begins and I run up to her and lift her off. We then dance an 'explosive' Jive, that ends with Karen sitting on the judging table and giving Len a kiss. |

StigOfTheKrump (Luke) & Karen
Amy: 6
Jess: 7 Suzy: 8 Val: 7 Jess: I did enjoy that, despite the slightly harsh mark- but I just didn't get the energy I look for in a jive- it didn't have that lift, it was a bit too all over the place. Maybe it would've made a better Cha-Cha-Cha?! That gives them 28 Therefore, with 7 points less than last week you have FAILED the twist and are the first couple to face the ‘re-dance’ tomorrow. If nobody else fails then you will automatically become this weeks eliminee ![]() Taking on the first Paso Doble of the night to ‘Crash World’ by Hilary Duff………….. Its tinyangel (Helen) & Darren Bennett………………….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwLtl6k3cqc Staging : To begin to dance, me and Darren will be attached to wires on the opposite sides on the ballroom, then will crash into each other as the first lyric 'crash' is sung. We then embrace each other as we are slowly lowered down onto the dance floor and continue the dance. When we reach the chorus Darren will swing me round in a circular motion as if i was a cape, this move will be synchronised with the formation of a circular ring of fire that will arise around us. To conclude the dance, in the final chorus, an explosion will occur on the words 'crash world' and i will dramatically faint into Darren's arms.

Jess: 9 Suzy: 7 Val: 7 Val: A great performance! You sometimes looked quite stilted in the music but overall you worked that well with the music by corresponding parts with the lyrics, good job! That gives them 30 That means with 3 points more than last weeks routine, you have PASSED this weeks twist and will definitely dance into Week 4. Well done : Next up and hoping to impress with a Jive to ‘Great Balls Of Fire’ …………………….. Its edy10 & Brendan Cole……………………….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bB5xL577r4&ob=av3n Round elevated stage . 4 different kind of lighting used(black, white, yellow, pink) to change at different beats of the song:, 1, 2 , 3 triple steps(all lighting combined) When the music starts and my partner do a knee slide to start dancing, I want the light to be white/black. And Little confettis that looks like balls to appear at the end of the routine . ![]() Its worth noting that my costume will be black and white so it will kind of match the lighting as well .

Amy: 8
Jess: 7 Suzy: 9 Val: 7 Suzy: You know I really enjoyed that- the staging was so off the wall that I must say credit to CRH who I think advised you. Well done to you both though That gives them a total of 31 As you finished second on the leaderboard with 32 last week, you earned a 2 point lea-way so with a score of 31 you have PASSED the twist and will definitely dance into week 4. Well done Also hoping to do well and pass the twist with their Paso Doble to ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ from Survivor………….. Its _NiallDEE_ & Camilla Dallerup………………………………………… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btPJPFnesV4&ob=av3n Both me and Camilla will be dressed in Tiger patterned clothes, and the whole performance will be tiger themed with the statues of tigers and fire coming out of the stage, there will also be a screen with images relating to the song lyrics in the background

Jess: 8 Suzy: 7 Val: 6 Amy: Love the whole theme and there was great technique from you so well done. That leaves them with 29 Therefore, with 1 point less than last week you have FAILED this weeks twist and will face a re-dance tomorrow along with StigOfTheKrump & Karen Dancing their Jive to ‘Jailhouse Rock’ from Elvis………….. Give it up for, .............. IzzieStar & Ian Waite……………..…………………………….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUD4vSv1ZsU&ob=av2n The stage it set up with one-side of jail bars at the top of the Strictly Come Dancing stage steps. On the screen, there is an image of jail bars, with a red background. The lighting is also predominantly red. My partner and I are sat on the steps, in front of the jail bars, looking downbeat, with grey prison overalls on. When the music starts, we both bop our heads from side to side with each beat (continuing to look downbeat) before the band starts singing. When the band starts singing, my partner stands up, rips off his overalls to reveal his dancing costume and jumps off the steps and begins dancing in a manner to try and encourage me to join him. While the line ‘You should’ve heard those knocked out jailbirds sing...’ is sang, I stand up and rip my own overalls off to reveal my dress, and my partner lifts me at the hips and turns while I am in the lifted before putting me down in front of him. At this point, the image on the screen changes to a fifties jukebox, and shades of yellow also come into the lighting alongside the red. The dances ends with me on the steps and my partner knee slides over and turn as he reaches the bottom of the steps to point at the camera. The lighting returns to red and the image on the screen to the jail bars. |

Jess: 8 Suzy: 8 Val: 9 Amy: Man that staging was awesome! Just a bit slow for me I'm afraid. That gives them a whopping total of 34 So with a huge improvement of 8 points from last week, you have clearly PASSED the twist and soar straight into week 4. Well done Next to take on their Paso Doble to ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ from Busted…………….. Please welcome pothuthic & Flavia Cacace……………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEV1KiXu_oM The stage is built like a spaceship when We come on dancing and paso dobleing ![]() The performance ends with us both sitting in spaceship chairs and an asteroid illumination hitting us and the lights go dark and sparks everywhere

Amy: 3
Jess: 3 Suzy: 5 Val: 6 Jess: That was odd, since when has a paso doble involved spaceships? Completely ridiculous, nay awful. That gives them 17 With 3 points less than last weeks score you have also FAILED the twist and will face a re-dance tomorrow Taking to the floor with their Jive to ‘Barbara Ann’ from The Beach Boys…………………. Please welcome onto the floor………..*Topaz* & Matthew Cutler……………………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynoCrgl2gj0 Costumes - I'm wearing a 60s style dress, Matthew is dressed like one of the Beach Boys wearing a beach shirt and white trousers Stage - There's a Beach Bar set on stage and another male pro is playing the part of a bar man serving drinks there - there's a sort of beach party atmosphere. Matthew has come to the bar from the beach and he's carrying a surfboard and goes up to the bar for a drink. He see's me sitting at the otherside at the bar and leaves his surboard behind - I look at him a bit embarrassed but he confidently takes me by the hand & I'm swept away by the moment because he's so charming and handsome and we start jiving away - it's more or less a tradional jive but there are a few 60s moves in keeping with the 60s theme. |

*Topaz* & Matthew
Amy: 9
Jess: 8 Suzy: 8 Val: 7 Val: Well done guys, I thought the song was a little slow and it wasn't showing me that enthusiasm I wanted for this Jive, but the staging was fun and that's what boosted my points tonight. That leaves them with an impressive total of 32 Therefore with 2 extra points on last weeks performance you have PASSED the twist this week and also dance straight into week 4. Congratulations Hoping to impress with their Paso Doble to ‘Explosive’ by Bond…………… Its Malik24 & Nicole Cutler………………….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiaOFOMPOBc&ob=av2n Staging: The backstory will be that she was waiting for me to come to a black-tie party with her and I was late, which will form the dramatic element of the dance. There will be a large double door and Nicole will be in the middle of the room/stage. When the music starts I will forcefully push open both doors and Paso with Nicole in a high-energy, intense dance. Nicole will be wearing a black dress with some dark red elements to complement the dark red lighting, however the spotlight on us will be a plain white/yellow light. |

Amy: 8
Jess: 9 Suzy: 8 Val: 7 Suzy: I liked the drama concept, but I kind of felt that you overdid it a bit, I must admit to not being a props fan but the dancing was very good That gives them a huge total of 32 And with 4 extra points from last week you have PASSED the twist and are safely through to dance in week 4. Well done Also hoping to beat tonights twist with their Jive to ‘Good Thing’ from Fine Young Cannibals……………. Its Camis (Julie) & Vincent Simone………………………… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrOek4z32Vg We start on the top stage on the back of a pair of Vespas. Then come down the steps through smoke onto the main dancefloor. The lighting is very subdued, casting a shadow and making it seem almost black and white. We are dressed as mods - Vincent is wearing tight fitted trousers, a polo shirt and a Harrington jacket, I am wearing a short dress with a bob cut wig - both wearing black and white. |

Camis (Julie) & Vincent
Amy: 6
Jess: 7 Suzy: 8 Val: 7 Suzy: Really enjoyed that - You picked an unused song, really liked the Chicago twist for the staging - overall a good effort That gives them 28 So with 2 points less than last weeks performance you have FAILED the twist and will face a re-dance in tomorrows show Dancing the final Paso Doble now to ‘Malageuna’ by Connie Francis…………. Its rosco2010 & Erin Boag……………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTYBSMkGjN4 Erin and I are at opposite ends of a raised red platform, as the music starts we walk towards each other as the platform lowers onto the dancefloor. Erin throws herself in my arms as the first part of the song starts. At this point the Paso begins. Midway through the performance a tussell with the cape ensues with Erin snatching it from me and throwing it into the audience. As the song ends I drag Erin across the floor, as is traditional in a Paso, and she ends up lying face down, myself stood upright next to her, cape in hand. Throughout the routine, the stage is lit with bright red and orange flashing lasers. |

Jess: 7 Suzy: 8 Val: 8 Val: Guys, this was a spectacular routine, and the music was just fit for this Paso Doble. I didn't think the staging was bad either, it wasn't the strongest but it was still good so well done That gives them a total of 29 Again, after finishing 3rd on the leaderboard last week you earned a 2 point lea-way. That 2 point lea-way has served you well as with 2 points less than last weeks performance you have PASSED the twist and dance into week 4. Congratulations And now closing the show with their Jive to ’Dancing Party’ from Showaddywaddy…………… Its Tall Paul & Lilia Kopylova ………………….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_-rGGgqFxs Set of tables, Female sat at one of them Male drags her from seat and Jive starts |

Jess: 8 Suzy: 8 Val: 6 Amy: I quite liked this, it's a shame I couldn't give you more marks but there wasn't much staging to be fair. That gives them a total of 28 Therefore with 1 point less than last week you have FAILED the twist and also face a re-dance tomorrow Now lets take a look at the leaderboard……………… |

LEADERBOARD
1. IzzieStar & Ian - 34 2=*Topaz* & Matthew - 32 2=Malik24 & Nicole - 32 3. edy10 & Brendan - 31 4=tinyangel (Helen) & Darren - 30 5=_NiallDEE_ & Camilla - 29 5=rosco2010 & Erin - 29 6= StigOfTheKrump (Luke) & Karen - 28 6=Camis (Julie) & Vincent - 28 6=Tall Paul & Lilia - 28 7. pothuthic & Flavia - 17 Congratulations to Izzie & Ian, Topaz & Matthew, Malik & Nicole, Edy & Brendan, Helen & Darren and Rosco & Erin who have all PASSED the twist and are safe for another week ![]() Niall & Camilla, Luke & Karen, Julie & Vincent, Paul & Lilia and Poth & Flavia. You however didn’t fair so well with this weeks twist and as a result must face a RE-DANCE tomorrow. You must dance again (your dance will remain the same, so you are re-dancing either a Jive or Paso Doble) but you must submit a new song choice and new staging for marking. The couple who then finishes last on the leaderboard with the judges will be IMMEDIATELY ELIMINATED. In the event of a tie at the bottom of the leaderboard, the judges will vote as normal. Remember judges, you have a ‘Save Me Pass’ which can be used whenever you please. This means you can use the pass and save everyone from elimination. But you can only use this ONCE before the semi-finals so if you do choose to use it up this week then you cannot change your mind later in the series. All 4 judges must be in agreement to use the pass. Please send me your choices asap for marking _NiallDEE_ - Paso Doble StigOfTheKrump – Jive Pothuthic – Paso Doble Camis- Jive Tall Paul - Jive |

What I would suggest to you guys who are doing a re-dance tomorrow is to put more detail into the staging - for me, you all had good songs (Poth aside) but it was the staging that let it down and I gave you less marks. Have a look at Topaz' description for some inspiration.
Although do have some good song choices as well!

The twists can be cruel sometimes coz most of u still scored pretty well. Especially after last week, I think Stig inparticular doesnt deserve to be here but rules are rules. Poth u were a different story

The reason I marked Stig down was because there wasn't much detail in the staging - think I gave a 4 for the song and 2 for the staging.

looking at the other scores then I might have been a bit harsh but those were my own guidelines when I marked. The staging was meant to be worth 50% of the marks, so I gave more marks for more detail in the staging. Topaz' description was a good example but you don't have to put as much in as Izzie did
