Why? I doubt they care those channels are full of old regurgitated crud anyway, I do not think they will lose sleep over that:D

Could be Sky attempting to build bridges with BBC/ITV following on from giving free carriage of the Olympic channels?

If they're FTA can't you do a manual tune?

What about All New Blockbusters on Challenge, and season 1 of The Middle and Modern Family on Pick TV?

My understanding is that any free to air channel can be manually tuned in on a freesat box. You might need a few technical details available here. http://www.lyngsat.com/Eutelsat-28A-and-Astra-1N-2A-2B.html

Both theses channel are on freeview and most people have freeview on there second or third televisions as well as Sky.

Also TNA Wrestling is on challenge.

And of course Interceptor! perhaps repeates of Treasure hunt too - this looks like Sky competing with Freeview to me - Something to do with the olympics I should think, for the many who are not the slightest bit interested in sport!

    I agree

Now that we are all taking about it there will be an announcement in the next edition of the What Satellite TV magazine, so Sky will know

    Sky owns shares in Freeview.

I wonder if this is anything to do with the Sky Picnic project?

Pick TV, Pick TV+1, Challenge & Challenge+1 are FTA. They weren't even FTV. I hope this is a permanent move especially for the +1s as it's annoying not being able to catch up on Freeview :D

If they were going to be permanent don't you think Sky would of publicised their benevolence in advance?

All it does is boost Sky's own Freesat from Sky package where they're adding the same channels from their own portfolio as on Freeview.

Freesat viewers will be able to add Challenge and Pick TV manually.

Not necessarily, when Sky's Amp/Scuzz/Flaunt music channels went FTA there was no publicity. Although in that case, it turned out they went FTA just ahead of being sold to the ChartShow group.

You may of hit upon something there. Perhaps an impending sale that no-one has picked up on in the media.

I very much doubt that Sky will be selling Pick TV or Challenge. Especially the latter!
