The characters of Maddie (Scarlett Bowman) and Will (James Atherton) are very negatively viewed by many of the audience, with some going as far to say they are among the most hated in HO history. What is your reaction to this, and what are your plans for these characters?

Good question! I want to know about Tony too. He hasn't really been used much since Grace. He's had the odd little storyline, but he's just used as spare parts for the odd line here and there, or to interact with the teens.

Emma Atkins (Charity Sharma) is one of the best actresses and one of the best soap characters currently in Soap. I know she's had a few sidelined storylines, but is she ever going to be given a central storyline of her own in which she can get her teeth into?

The Thomas family was one of the greatest families in soap. Why have you decided to take the route you have with them when they were so good together?

Do you have any plans to continue balancing the amount of screentime characters get? For example, the system of a week full of teens then a week full of McQueens isn't necessarily a popular one.

Many people have complained that this years storylines have been very short, rushed and lacked the pushing boundaries reputation oaks used to have. Do you have plans to go back to the shows roots of being the first show to tackle taboo subjects no one else is brave enough too?

Why did the team decide to make Doug gay as opposed to bi? Many viewers felt that lacked logic given everything we've seen of that character to date

How do viewers opinions shape your vision of a character? Some are almost universally disliked yet show no progression as a character into a positive light, whereas others are by nature villains yet hugely loved.

Many fans have expressed disappointment at the portrayal of certain social issues. Could we see Neighbours turn PG now its digital channel permits it to do so and become more daring and controversial?

Will we see more established family groups in the show and less waifs and strays?

As Susan no longer has any friends, could we see some characters of her age group introduced?

As Malcolm Kennedy's return was popular, could we see him become a regular again?

Which faces from the past are your favourite, and who would you like to see back?

Many long-term fans were annoyed by the backstory to Kate and Sophie Ramsay, when writers erased part of the history of the show which rocked its foundations to the very core. Could we see this rectified in future?

It has been noticed that Chris' first gay romance didn't receive as much build-up or screen time as most of the straight romances, could we see a more daring love story for Chris in future?

The previews at the beginning of the week, and at the end of the episode, have been poorly received by fans, as they seem to reveal a lot and undermine the cliffhanger. Are these to remain or could they be removed in future?


Over the past few years many fans have complained about the dark appearance of the show due to lighting and sets, which has failed to portray the sunny, welcoming environment the show was always known for. Meanwhile Home and Away's production standards are outstanding, having also used the colour grading firm Thaumaturgy to enhance the visual quality. What are your feelings on the production quality of Neighbours?

Many viewers have been concerned about the character direction of Brendan. The darkness is, of course, integral to the character but his greatest strength is his complexity and his vulnerable moments. However, there is a sense that the character is moving towards a more two dimensional villain role in light of the decision to place Ste with Doug. Can you assure viewers that the show still is interested in showing Brendan as the fantastic, complex character he is? And won't simply be used as a foil to make Doug look better?

• Looking at the spoilers ahead for the summer months there certainly looks like there's a lot of drama ahead, i.e: Carmel's injuries, Mercedes/Riley/Lynsey and Mitzeee & Martha's alcohol troubles, but will they be on for a couple of weeks followed by some clear aftermath as not many SL's have had this and it's bringing the show down at the moment.

Why have the senior characters except Edna been pushed to the sidelines so much that they have become bit part actors or invisible altogether?
In this I include Diane. Not just Betty, Pearl and Alan.

And why are inexperienced young actors [and bad actors] given so much heavy stuff to do when they aren't up to the job?

And why are the lines certain characters are given so repetitive? If it is to make sure viewers get the message, it isn't doing that, it is making us dislike the show because we are seeing the same thing happen over and over and over.
