Joe McElderry releases new LP in September and it's gonne be a "new direction":D

Joe McElderry, is currently putting the finishing touches on his new album and hopes to release the as-yet untitled album on on September 17, 2012. Speaking about the LP, which is said to include collaborations with Marcella Detroit (Shakespears Sister) and Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, McElderry told the Sunday Sun: “This album is going to be a new direction, not classical or pop. It is going to be new and just me. People will get what they are expecting, but in a good way – it will be a nice surprise.”

Can't wait, but if it was metal, or rap, or hip-hop I wouldn't buy it.

clearly by duets mentioned it's going to be in the same vein of the last two, classical -he can dress it up as a new direction but they'd never change a winning formula. It'll be in that ballpark. It'll probably be a new take on it, soul/jazz/big band type vibe i think.

He's done good selling 200k and 100k, he so easily could have flopped. He really needs to set the bar with this next one.

He has already said he not doing any classical music on this album. He isn't doing duets - the people mentioned are collaborating with him and he has written several songs some which have been chosen.

The way the percussion works with piano on Ludovico Einaudi's album 'Nightbook' is amazing. I would love to hear Joe's vocals worked into that kind of mix.

It's good that he's experimenting. Good luck to him - he's a sweet lad.

I am not sure he is actually "experimenting" as such. He says he is not doing classical and not too much over-production is going into the album (like Wide Awake I think he means). I am sure there will be some of the ballads he is so good at. Some acoustic would be nice.

He's still on Decca though, which is a 'classical' label these days.

I don't know of Ludovico. Just done a quick bit of research on him and he certainly has amazing credentials.

Joe has a vocal which is just too good for the overproduced rubbish we are forced to listen to in the main on radio. The list of high quality musicians/singers/writers collaborating with this young lad is mounting. Some very prestigious names on that list. Looking forward to hearing his work with Ludovico as well as the stuff he has penned himself.

A prestigious career he has and is bound for. Not bad for a teenager who found out he could sing when he did Karaoke.

He definitely will be one of the few to be around for a very very very long time as a real singer from the XF bunch.

For me, it's not really about what style of music Joe comes out with on album #4 (within reason ) so much as whether it showcases his voice.

The problem with Wide Awake IMHO was not that it was pop, or that it had as many covers as original songs on, but that it was so over-produced that on all but a couple of songs (like the title track) it wasn't even clear it was Joe singing That was even more apparent when you heard Joe singing the songs live and they sounded so different (and so much better).

As a result, Wide Awake didn't deliver on the one thing we could be pretty certain encouraged people to vote for Joe on X Factor - his voice!

I think (hope) that lesson has been learned with Classic and Classic Christmas, and it sounds from what Joe's said about his new album - and the collaborations that have been mentioned, especially with Einaudi - that it has

The album title is 'Here's What I Believe'

Is that the best they could come up with, maybe it's me but it seems very unimaginative (The title I mean)

It is called that because it is the title of one of the songs which Joe has written. Logical really!

Anyway,I am looking forward to this. He is very excited about it - as are all his many fans.

By the way, it is his 21st birthday today - #happybirthdayjoe

He sang a couple of lines from one of the songs on the new album at an acoustic gig he did last night - sounded good to me.

Happy 21st Birthday Joe

I love it, the 2 lines sound like really powerful lyrics, can't wait to hear the rest of the song, I'm super excited for this album to be delivered to my doorstep.

Joe says the new album will be pop ballads

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jniw6bStIVI

Hopefully it will show off the voice that people voted for - I hope it does really well for him

It would be great if this album gets to No 1

I think he's right to stick to pop ballads rather than try to get down with the kids.He might not get playlisted by Capital or be on top of the singles chart but he'll sell more albums.
Alexandra Burke went wrong imo by become a generic carbon copy of everyone else.

I don't think there is a single coming out of the new album. He said something about a "focus track". Which probably means that when he appears on chat shows they play that track or others similarly focussed.
