Neil Sedaka singing Soliatire at the Albert Hall is my favourite version ever. Andy Williams, Karen Carpenter and Elvis have also done the most beautiful versions of this song.

Truly great songs are very rare today. Great songwriters are few and far between. Those that were written in the past require an amazing young vocalist to showcase them and represent them, in the best possible way, to a new and younger audience. This strategy has been done before with great success.

Allow for not just the repetitive noise that is showcased on the likes of Radio 1, but for some great British singing talent.

Joe is one of the best young singing artists to come out of talent shows. Let us not be put off by a great song that has been done before. Especially if it is done even better.

the `skyscraper` cover is really capitalising on demi`s lack of uk profile, which is clever from a marketing point of view. however, that to me echo`s syco`s strategy for his début single, since miley is another us artist that has never had a uk top 10 hit single.

the other two are untouchable classics in my opinion. whitney`s performance being all the more poignant now and gene already improved on the genius of that song with his duet on the marc almond version that topped the charts in the eighties.

`the climb` seemed more of a contrived cliché, rather than appropriate lyric and his interpretation was not a variation from the original. actually, in fairness though, alexandra was the only winner that had the opportunity to stamp her style on the winning song. her take on hallelujah was a departure from the original and even different to the diana vickers version shown previously that series.

karen carpenter was a truly gifted vocalist. now there was an artist that really could deliver a cover version with a unique prospective and sell the song as if it was written for her. as for his new material, who knows, perhaps he will surprise me. i will certainly be keeping an open mind.
Whilst other XF artists kinda fly over the head with a short comment of "great single innit?" and it has done well in the Charts! With Joe it is always an indepth analysis. Love it! Shows the quality of the singer.

Love both your last two posts Cara! Some people don't understand that singing a song that has been sung by another person in the past isn't a death knell to a singer's career! Joe has a unique way of putting a song over which is unusual in someone so young.

First review from Daily Star

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/playlist/...hat-I-Believe/

JOE is back with his best album yet – and he owes it all to Katy Perry.

He is writing for the first time for his fourth album, and Katy, 27, inspired the former X Factor winner to get composing.

The 21-year-old told me: “Katy is great at writing ‘It’s your loss’ uplifting break-up songs, and I wanted to write something that good.

“I’d been going through a rubbish time with an ex, so the first single came flooding out.”

The single – a fantastic Take That-style ballad – is the title track of Here’s What I Believe, out September 17. I’ve heard three other songs, and they’re cracking too.

This is the correct link for SGG's complete set from One Night In London: http://youtu.be/EohOHfuXYIE

Joe will be singing at Smooth Radio's Love Live Music on the Waterfront at Liverpool on Saturday. Smooth Radio say they will be streaming it live and hopefully it will include a track or two from Joe's new album.

Love this song sooo much - so catchy
Much as I enjoyed Wide Awake and thought it was underrated (still do), this is the kind of song I'd always hoped for on his debut album - it's very Joe. My favourite of all he's done so far, so it's even better that he co-wrote this one. Great collaboration with Marcella. Excited to hear the other collaborations on his album as well.
Good to hear he added another original track to the album this week too.

Would love Here's What I Believe to get plenty of airplay as I think it's a very radio-friendly track - but am not holding my breath. Hoping Decca have a clever promo plan in place as they'll be well aware of the airplay issue.

Know I'm wishing my life away here, lol - but 10th Sept couldn't come quick enough

Although some people in the general public think that joe doing covers is a failure, at least the songwriters who give him songs to sing appreciate the work he does with them. I would think that in the future, he will keep writing his songs, but people might even start writing especially for him because his voice is quite distinctive and they want someone who can showcase their lyrics

It's important to be able to write songs, but Joe is still young. And he's obviously already started. I think he's doing remarkably considering he was effectively written off the week his first album failed to sell.

Because of the success of albums 2 and 3, there will be a greater air of expectation for no 4. I'm really hoping he makes No 1 this time round
