I so agree. Peggy was magnificent. She may have old fashioned views sometimes but given her age I guess we shouldn't hold that against her. But when the chips are down everyone should have a Peggy in their camp.

About as sad as I am it seems. Despite what I said earlier - of course its real! Every bliddy one of them is as real as Welsh Lad, Diamond Doll, Lakie Lady, Postit, Sam Gee and all the others who post on here - including you.

I can't understand why Anna isn't delving into Rob's behaviour, not just with Helen, but with Pat, Kirsty and so on. She's the one who will have put up a defense, but it doesn't seem that she's doing that, but simply allaying Helen's fears and saying "there, there, it'll be alright"

Same goes for the family. They know Rob was married before, why hasn't one of them thought to get hold of Jess, if only to see if she can corroborate Helen's assertion that Rob was a control freak?

She said she can't have any contact with the prosecution witnesses, which include Pat and Kirsty.

Jess isn't a prosecution witness though, and I suspect when she hears about Jess from Helen, she'll be having a chat with it her...

I think Jess is going to be the key which will unlock the truth about Rob's behaviour. Of course, I can only speculate, but I can believe that the prosecution would give her a terrible time after her evidence for the defence. She will be so convincing that the jury will be won over (after hearing from Peggy too) and Helen will be found not guilty.

Who needs storyliners? The BEEB can get all the ideas right here on DS.

If they all put half as much effort into getting Helen's defence together as they're putting into the birth of Spawn, Helen might stand a chance.

Instead, Tony and Anna now seem on a mission to get that blubbering wreck Pat present at the birth.

I agree with you and I'm a girl. Why Helen would want to keep Spawn is beyond me.

I guess because its her baby and she has felt it growing inside her and carried it for 9 months. And because nature has programmed us to feel overwhelming attachment to our unborn children (we call it love ) so that the species perpetuates. If mothers didn't feel this most compelling emotion to their children, they would be abandoned all the time. It doesn't even seem to matter if the child was conceived in bad circumstances. I know some mothers can't bond with a baby that is the consequence of rape, but plenty can. Seemingly the natural programming overcomes the social programming in many (although not all) cases.

How much will Anna make of Helen's hint about Spawn being the result of rape?

Depends how much Helen reveals I guess. When on earth is she going to twig that only exposing Rob for the monster he is will give her a chance of getting out of this pickle?

Will Rob be told where she had gone? I would think it's pretty certain he will try for custody of the little one.

I think Anna is trying not to rush Helen, and to get her to tell her story in her own time. There's no rush is there? Haven't they got until September to get the defence together?
