Ian also knows that Rob is homophobic. He's one of several people who knew that all was not well with Rob - including Saint "Lie to the Cops" Shula, and Gone To Scotland Charlie. Where the hell are they? Why aren't they speaking up?

Daft isn't it. I assume they're all off doing other productions / rep / theatre work atm.

Is Rob up and about yet or is he still bed-ridden? Just wondered as he is the Father of the child and the husband of the Mother of the child, so he has the right to go and register the new baby's birth!

If he was being completely evil, he could register the baby as Gideon Robert Titchener before Helen has left the hospital!

I don't know. He's still getting the hag to run errands for him I think.

I don't think he can. I mean, can any bloke just amble into a Registry office and register a child, without well, proof?

He's married to Helen so he can register the birth without Helen being there. He'll have his marriage certificate and proof of identity so he's good to go.

There should be registration provisions made for babies who are born in prison surely?
The county registrar should send a representative as the mother cannot go to the office to do it herself.

+ he should be 'Archer' - anything that might cause Rob a burst colostomy bag is worth doing.

Spawn was born in a hospital and Registrars go into hospitals to register babies - well they do where I live. Helen will just have to get in quickly before Rob goes to the office and registers Gideon. I'm sure he's going to do it ASAP.

Don't you have to have proof from the midwife or someone that there IS a baby though? Or could I just pop down to the register office and pretend I've had one? I'm sure I could borrow an infant if that's required.

When you register a death, you have to produce a medical certificate giving the cause of death, I'd have thought there was something similar for births.

ETA: Just realised, I'd have to give documentary proof of my ID and DoB. Hatching a sprog at 60 might arouse a few suspicions.

It would be beyond fab if they all rocked up to give evidence that he's a psychotic tyrant and evil beyond belief.

I'd love Charlie to come back, he was a good character despite him leading Adam astray, not that he took a lot of leading.

The hospital lets the Registrar know which babies have been born each day.

Just pick the one you fancy from the list.

Right. Peggy or Tony could register the baby too, as they were present at the birth.

It's a race to see who gets to the registrar first!

I actually want Rob to get there first. Calling the Spawn Gideon Robert will cause uproar.

Not a massive Charlie fan myself, I felt like that "will they won't they" story went on about 2.5 years longer than it really needed to, and ended with more of a whimper than a bang, if you get my drift. But if he came back to dob Rob in for cooking the books, that would work for me.

Adam is truly Brian's son (even if he isn't). He's anyone's for a cheeky wink and a flash of ankle. I still want Iain to make him suffer, to be honest. How weird that he found out Adam was unfaithful and still went ahead with the marriage. He should have shoved Adam's face into the cake and stormed off to work for Heston Blumenthal or something.

I don't think he really feels attached to Henry - it's an affectation, like his affable act with everyone else in the village.

As others have said, Henry would end up side-lined and even neglected were Rob to get custodi of spawn too.”

I don't think he's really very attached to Henry either, it's just another way to get at Helen and, as you say WL, to influence Henry as a witness. Having said that, when Henry arrived and Rob had just got out of hospital, Rob was very tender towards Henry I thought and seemed fond of him. I suppose he liked being cuddled and called dad, but now he has his own son things could change.

The ending of the Charlie and Adam story was disappointing. Adam must think he got away with it unless I mssed Ian telling him he knew. Surely there is more to come - if Ian just isn't heard anymore and Adam never finds out he knew about the New Year snog with Charlie that would be quite poor writing (imo)

It was. I really don't think Ian ever confronted Adam about it. He found out, and was then very emotional at the wedding, then pretty much after the honeymoon, he disappeared. It's a shame. It all feels very unfinished to me, but who knows?

Well, give Ian his due, he does want to send flowers to Helen, and she will (should be) very happy to have him back as a friend.

Not sure i buy the Pip/Matthew grand passion.

Sure they had some smooch and have been sexting via skype and all, but Pip's whole Cathy-and-Heathcliff do-dah tonight seemed a bit excessive.
Were they really that involved?

Druth are still being sugary and fawning over each other unfortunately. Though at least if they stay that way we won't hear much from them for a while. Seems quite silent on the Brookfield front. Jill's casserole pump must be keeping them all in starchy contentment.

You're right.

Perhaps he confronted Adam, Adam lost it and lashed out, and Ian's now under the patio waiting to bubble up next time Ambridge floods...

Well that's next week's storyline sorted. John Anthony Archer or Gideon Robert Titchener. Race to the Registrar!

I think Rob has already registered Gideon and that Helen will only find out when she asks to register the baby at the MBU and the Registrar tells her she can't as he's already been registered. It's going to be great.

She could change it by deed poll but for that you need the consent of everyone with parental responsibility.

Surely that should be necessary for registering too, but I don' think it is.
Why hasn't Kate secured this? No-one talks about stuff do they. Helen can appoint a proxy to register the birth as she cannot go to the registry herself.

She doesn't even need to put Rob's name on the certificate.

I hope Helen gets there first.
Rob finding out would be awesome..... and hopefully trigger a massive internal haemorrhage of some kind.
