Rather a horrible, painful, long-lasting infection that gives him so much agony he hasn't the energy or will to think about anything else.

She could change it by deed poll but for that you need the consent of everyone with parental responsibility.
Surely that should be necessary for registering too, but I don' think it is. Why hasn't Kate secured this? No-one talks about stuff do they. Helen can appoint a proxy to register the birth as she cannot go to the registry herself. She doesn't even need to put Rob's name on the certificate. |

If you’re going to the register office on your own, you may need proof of paternity from the other parent before you give their details. Seems that Helen is determined to cut Rob out completely by giving the baby the Archer surname. Much more storyline to get out of this scenario I should think. Wth a bit of luck sleaze-bag Rob willgo completely ballistic and deep-sex Arsula. Oh my goodness, I've become over-engaged in a bloody soap opera. Time for me to take a step back I think

From recent experience I am aware that if the dad registers the birth he has to take a red book (?) with the records from the maternity unit where the baby was born.
So Rob is unable to register the birth without this. |

So Rob is unable to register the birth without this. Since he can't have contact with Helen its looking like full steam ahead for baby Archer.

So Rob is unable to register the birth without this. Not sure the Archers will try to be so prosaic though. If the drama requires it they'll have Rob register the baby and behold thd fallout. |

It is indeed time to step back when you are saying things like that about a mother and son.

Married Fathers have an automatic right to register the birth. Helen seems to have it all sorted anyway and as the birth can be registered at the MBU or at the hospital she will be able to get it done much quicker. I do hope that the naming of the baby is a turning point for Helen, she sounded so much more like her own self when she was telling Peggy and Tony the names she had chosen. |

My money is still on Rob registering Gideon last week while Helen was still in dithering mode. It's a much better story line. Helen and her family will be outraged.

I'm sure you get something at the hospital which you have to take to the Registrar as proof of birth, which Rob wouldn't have. I didn't register any of my children, my husband did them all while I was still in hospital, but I'm sure he had to have something signed by the midwife before he could do it. |

It would make for a cracking storyline though if Rob did get there first and may well fire Helen into action! |

I'm 99.9% sure without bothering to look it up that it's a nautical expression something to do with tossing something over the side of the ship. Either will do though. But I'm glad Helen has found some mojo and also that they didn't run with her rejecting the baby, that would have been overkill. And it seems as if Pat seems to have finally given up the wailing and gnashing of teeth. |

Although, because she's married to Rob he'll surely have to take the surname Titchener wouldn't he? Like you, I want Rob to go berserk when he finds out - I'd like him to assault the registrar and for it all to be caught on CCTV. |

I'm hoping Helen registers him and it makes Rob show his true personality to everyone else.
