Not in the UK - she can call him whatever she likes, first and last names. *Rubs hands together gleefully*
Going to make some popcorn and enjoy the fallout

I hope Helen gets there first.
Rob finding out would be awesome..... and hopefully trigger a massive internal haemorrhage of some kind.

Change of topic (briefly)

There was a short comment made by Jolene last week. I heard but didn't quite catch what she said in the Omnibus. She had been going on at Kenton to make Wayne's post permenant. Right at the end she made some sort of aside under her breath that led me to believe there was some sort of conspiracy going on between Jolene and Wayne. She seemed to be making a note to herself outloud to get Wayne to tone it down a bit.

I didn't hear it properly and don't get it. Anybody able to explain please?

That would make perfect sense because, as seejay says, without something like that anyone could claim to be a parent and register a child.

Not sure the Archers will try to be so prosaic though. If the drama requires it they'll have Rob register the baby and behold thd fallout.
Absolutely right, the producers are very pro Rob so I expect he will register the baby. What does the law matter.

To stop Kenton being jealous of Wayne she got him to pretend he had a girlfriend. However Kenton is beginning to think there's something fishy about the relationship, so she's told Wayne that Kenton is on to him and that he should tone it all down.

Smashing thanks seejay. That makes complete sense. I appreciate the enlightenment.

Ok folks back on topic....

Oh Peggy's back to meddling again

Rapist and Fetid-hag-face don't deserve *anything*
I think Peggy's right to send a photo to Rob and Granny Arsula - the more civilised and decent Helen's lot are the better. Leave the nasty stuff to the Tichenors (sp?).

Is Wayne going to dump the Drains girl then? I hope he lets her down gently.

I was a bit surprised at Jen referring to lunch at Grey Gables as such a big treat - aren't she and Brian there all the time?

I'm looking forward to Brian and Will demolishing Fairyland - that whole thing is just too twee and irritating in my opinion. Linda spoke my thoughts though, when she said that about protecting the birds so Brian's pals could kill them, but I'm an ignorant city girl.

I wonder if Druth are going to find Matthew work locally so darling Pip can have her heart's desire. Those scenes between Pip and Matthew were unconvincing and a bit sickening I thought.

I don't agree. For one thing, I'd bet there are more than enough listeners who either know or suspect that you don't just wander in to a Registry Office with no proof to register anything. I think too many listeners will have experience of registering a birth or a death and know you need evidence for them to fudge that. However much dramatic tension they want to build, the showrunners aren't daft and they won't want to lose credibility at this stage when they've done better than most soaps at keeping it so far.

And I don't think they're pro Robert at all, I think they want to make sure they're giving him enough rope to hang himself at each stage of the storyline. I expect him to have some kind of - hopefully incriminating - meltdown when he discovers that his baby is an Archer.

That will be an unmissable episode. I just hope he doesn't take it out on Henry if he does.

The thought of a child that's not biologically his bearing his name, while his own son is an Archer, would surely send him completely demented.

Whilst I love the sound of that, I'm still convinced that Rob will have got there first and named the Spawn Gideon.

That's what I fear too, how ever implausible.
They want to keep knocking Helen imo. Registering the baby as Gideon will send her back into wailing mode.

I'm not so sure. Long term, Helen is going to be around a lot longer than Rob is and I'll be surprised if they'll saddle her with a child carrying names the entire family will hate and the last name of her abuser. She could change his last name, of course, and they can call him anything they like between themselves, but legally he'd be stuck with his first names for everything official.

Rob et al. are certainly devious and determined enough to get hold of the necessary paperwork to register him but I suspect we're coming to the end of the heaping misery on Helen phase and the fight back is beginning.

Whichever way it goes it's going to be fun to listen to. As long as Pat doesn't go back to grizzling and moaning 24 hours a day.

Ooh I'm fuming Kenton needs to grow a backbone. He should get some advice from Johnny on how to side with family.

Poor Henry, seeing his true family and not allowed to even say hello.

Aaaaagggghhhhh!

Rob's behaviour at the cricket so enraged me that I nearly threw the radio through the window. Telling the Archers to stay away from Henry because it wasn't their contact day and coming out with all that shite before presenting the trophy to Helen's nephew - who tf does he think he is?

And as for that traitor Kenton, he needs a good slap.

I hope Helen does register the spawn as John Archer and that Nob is so angry he bursts a blood vessel.

I do see Kenton's point though. Most of the village regard Rob as a hero because of the flood. That's why whatsisface needs to come back from Poland to spill the beans

I'd very happily punch Rob's lights out.

Johnny played a blinder in more ways than one.

Having just listened, Johnny should've played a hook shot...around Rob's head!

I couldn't believe that Rob had the nerve to thank everyone for their support and to take credit for Johnny's success...arrrgh!

As for Kenton...call himself an Archer...pah!

BIB In the first 12 months it's easy to change the first name.

Me too. What a manipulative shit he is.

I hope the whole village comes to their senses about him once it all comes out in the trial.
