It will be interesting to see how they shoe horn it in today! I love how they deal with current affairs. Normally they are just sort of bolted on as a few conversational exchanges. But actually this one could have been a major story line because it is very pertinant to agriculture.

They have already covered it in the Friday episode.

I'm not sure that Pat should be making plans for Henry being returned to them after the hearing. If things don't go too well, we may be in for more wailing!!

Well that was a damp squib. I was looking forward to hearing Brian tearing into Kate.

I really don't understand why Pat and Tony are tip-toeing around Henry the wunderkind. At 5 years old he's old enough to understand. He witnessed the attack, it would make sense to him that his Mummy has to be in prison and who knows, once he DOES know, all sorts of little gobbets of information could spill forth from him, to help his mother, even if he doesn't realise it.

I've been playing catch up, almost up to date. I like the slow rebuilding of Helen and the dawning realisation by Pat that Rob has been manipulating them all along; it was what I expected but I think for a soap it's being well paced. I'm less keen on egg-gate and I don't see the point of the Carol and Anna storyline, but I suppose all will be revealed in due course. And I'm furious with Roy for allowing himself to be manipulated into helping Kate so that she gets away with everything yet again. He didn't need to, Phoebe is obviously perfectly capable of looking after her own interests and turning off her phone so she's not disturbed. I really hope we're not heading for a Roy/Kate reunion affair. The less of Kate the better for me until she stops behaving like a spoiled teenaged princess. It's never a good look on someone approaching middle age.

And then there's Henry. Surely it's time to replace Henry Mk1 with a child who sounds five years old and has at least a modicum of acting talent? And then record his contributions somewhere other than the studio toilets so there's less echo and they sound out of place with the background of the adults he's supposed to be talking to. Or shouting at.

Too true! It can't be that difficult to find a child actor who could take on Henry's part - he doesn't have to be 5 years old! It would sound more realistic.

Brian's voice on Sunday's episode was a bit strange! It sounded as though he had been on the vino and was reading his lines from a chaise longue somewhere in deepest Borsetshire and that he basically couldn't give two hoots about the script he was reading. Tired maybe?

His voice reminds me of the kid on that TV road safety cartoon that was shown in the 60's. He said 'Charlie says.....' and then interpreted the road-safety caterwaulings of his cat.

He certainly sounds more like a three year old than a five year old.

Henry's five? I honestly thought he wasn't older than two years old!

I'm glad I'm not the only one - I'm not around small children much, well at all, and I think he sounds three at most. They could have done a lot more with him in the story line if they'd scripted him his proper age instead of as a spoilt pre-schooler.

They were repeated throughout the 1980s too. You're spot on about the voice!

I was traumatized by those ads, especially this one where Charlie eats a fish. Don't know why but the way he eats it is so.... disturbing!

So Tom was sent out to pasture in favour of New Tom, a trained actor! In that case how did the actor who plays Adam get appointed? He has the most mundane voice and sounds more like someone who works in corporate finance than a farmer (not that you have to be all ooh-aargh, wear a smock and carry a pitchfork to be a farmer.)

Andrew Wincott (Adam) is a trained actor - Webber Douglas Academy - although I agree with you about his mundane voice.

Adam's lazy drawl irritates me. Had to laugh today when he was on about being busy in the poly tinnel

.... Mustn't rant about New Tom.... MUSTN'T!!... Aaaargh!
Agree about Adam - he doesn't sound remotely convincing. When they do a scene with him talking out of a tractor I think.... yeah right!

Was Pat always this feeble-minded? She really does seem to be incapable of rational thought since 'the incident'.

Saying to Tony the hearing would be so much easier if Rob weren't there . I'd tell you to think about what you're saying Pat, but I doubt you'd manage it - you bloody idiot.

And all that whingeing and snivelling in court - I'm surprised the judge or whoever didn't chuck the daft bint out.

Like a previous poster, I haven't been enjoying the little storyline with Carol and Anna much, but now I would like to know what's bugging Anna so much that it's (almost?) affecting her work... Must be something big - maybe she's just found out she's pregnant

I think perhaps Anna has had a similar case in the past that went terribly wrong.

Poor Henry is going to need years of therapy after spending yet another 3 months with Rabid.

Intriguing business with Anna! Can't wait to find out what is bugging her.

At least Helen gets to keep Gid..sorry the baby!! Who has been coaching Rob? He was definitely going for the sympathy vote!

I wonder if she has had episodes of mental illness, and fears she's heading for another one. Bipolar disorder or something.

Could be, the way she said to Carol that it was happening again and that it had to stop - it is obviously a re-occurrence of some illness.

She seemed to lose concentration at the start of the hearing and bumbled through her first few opening lines before she got in her stride, maybe it was a loss of confidence in herself.

I think this could be it. Perhaps she was not able to keep someone inside (or at least off the streets) and that person went on to commit a heinous crime?
