The others have pointed you to where you can tune in Matthewrox. The challenging part might be getting the characters straight when you only have voices to go on. We can help you with the relationships. May I suggest you tune in and just let it burble for a while. Eventually you will be able to tell the characters apart. Well except for some of the new school of young characters played by identikit 'professional' actors. We are all struggling with them I think.

Ian firmly back in Helen's camp - good
![]() Johnny's back - and so distinctive. The timbre of his voice and his accent lend such credibility to the character somehow... anyone agree? Whereas Josh Archer sounds like a camp townie reading a script about tractors! Josh talking about liking "leggy blonds" was so funny and implausible. To me he sounds like he'd rather a bit of Johnny! |

I agree about Johnny's voice. It's so different from all the rest. Pat and Tony better keep him on or they'll be in trouble with me.

Totally agree about Johnny. Pleased about Ian too, although I thought his behaviour towards Helen out of character and totally implausible in the first place.

The man who killed Dan Archer has died.
![]() I mean the editor; William Smethurst, from the 70s and 80's who killed off the character. Great old picture from 1978. I only know who about two of them are. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36905761 |

Oooh Toby has fouled up.
Left the chickens for his chick! Josh and Rex not very good at business - talking about contacting all their customers. Surely better to ship in eggs from another supplier until they can re-stock on hens. |

How old is Josh supposed to be?I'm having too much trouble telling Josh, Toby , Adam , Rex , New Tom etc ( there are loads of these drama school accented youths) apart. It's getting tedious. Don't the writers realise how important it is on radio to have distinctive voices. Clari, Lynda, Susan , Jill ( hmmmm) Brian, Ian , Pat, Tony ( another hmmm). Shula, Lizzie, and the rest of the oldies all get the thumbs up, it's the new actors apart from Johnny who are the problem . Subtitles for radio ? Maybe it's us old 'uns with worn out ears...

I thought that about Ian at the time, he has more insight and would have twigged...

They should take a leaf out of Kirsty Young's book and say every two minutes - I'm Kirsty Young (insert New Tom, Toby, Rex or whoever) and I'm speaking to A N Other (Josh,Rex ,Toby etc) !!! Johnny is a breath of fresh air in comparison and as others have said has that lovely rural twang in his voice. |

It was strange when Ian was telling Anna about his and Helen's fall out - like the writers hadn't thought about it before and were giving Ian lines that would explain it all so he and Helen could become bezzie mates again.
For me it's Emma and Alice who have the worst voices. Emma always sounds out of breath; I reckon she's been spending too much time with Clarrie and all her huffing and puffing. Alice sounds like there's something wrong with her - sometimes I can't make sense of what she's saying because her voice is all over the place. Can't believe that firm were so keen to have her working for them as she'll drive her colleagues round the bend as soon as she opens her mouth. At least there's no chance of mixing them up with other characters - their voices are too distinctive, unlike some of the boys, who sound very similar to me too. |

I could do with a little less of Susan's distinct voice. I reckon Neil could too!

Oooh Lynda in full decapitation mode.... albeit with exemplary English etiquette and manners of course!
Will the fête be a complete disaster?? I guess the New Tom actor wants time off then but they need an excuse as the Bridge Farm Archers are going to be centre stage for a good while. Will New Tom be off on his 'scholarship' while Helen's trial is on? |

Maybe he is going to regenerate again. WIth luck the producers have realised the error of their ways and will get old Tom back again.
Now that would be a good plan! |

I know what you mean about Linda - she drives me mad sometimes, but I do love her. She was great tonight.
Losing a pet is awful, but Scruff must have had a nice life with Robert and Linda. He must have been quite a good age too - it seems years ago he was running amok at Shula's. RIP Scruffy

Poor old Scruff. No sooner had he found his way home and back to health, than he carks it! I wasn't expecting that at all.
He'll probably be buried under the stone now! |
