I'm not sure if the presenters actually hear the inserts. I have been a studio guest on local radio (not BBC) in the past and the presenter; a DJ in this case, would cut to an alternative stream for things such as news, weather and commercial breaks. All he did was cease his broadcast so that the listener heard the alternative feed which in that case was tapping into national content. We didn't hear these in the studio although its possible he muted it because it was an opportunity for us to talk off air.

I din't hear the reaction of the studio presenter though. I fact I was dozing still and think I missed half of the trailer.

I wonder if this is a case of if you don't use it, you lose it.

I suppose Helen is going to tell Anna all just in time

I feel very sorry for poor Caz, but I didn't find her attempting suicide that convincing tbh. I hope she can return to the MBU.

I listened to the omnibus yesterday as I'd missed a couple of episodes. I really enjoyed it but wasn't inspired to do any ironing or housework unfortunately

I even made myself listen to Alice again She is played by an appallingly poor actor imo - I felt sorry for the ones that play Adam, Phoebe and Josh for having scenes with her. Her voice is all over the place - she seems to stress the wrong parts of her lines quite often so it's difficult to understand what she's on about. And that strident, whiny tone is an assault to the ears

I don't think many of you watch Corrie, but Alice reminded me of a character called Joni - played, very badly, by one of Girls Aloud.”

I generally save myself for the omnibus because it is such a perfect background for housework or food preparation. I think I will be sneeking in a few 'live' episodes these coming weeks though. For all my quibbles about actors and the unrealistic portrayal of how the wheels of justice turn, it has become for me the radio equivilent of a page turner.

I wonder if Rob will start trying to seduce Charlotte. Surely he won't be crass enough to just jump her will he? It will be interesting to see how the Charlotte character plays out, won't it? I can't believe they have brought in a speaking character without some sort of broader purpose.

Lakie Lady - Loving you 'treatment' for the Grey Gables story. "Don't drown that G&T Dahhhling"

Love this thread. Its such a pleasant little oasis of friendliness and polite chatter amid the combat zones of DS. Thank you everyone. I hoipe you don't all vanish when the court case ends.

An - I see Rob arriving home after each day in court, devastated by the mauling he's had from Anna, and going on about Helen and everyone twisting things and lying about him. Charlotte will believe him and offer sympathy. He will say she's the only one who understands him, what would he do without her etc. Poor girl will go like a lamb to the slaughter

I always used to listen to the omnibus, but since starting to post on here I like to know what's happening straightaway, and I love my 7 O'clock ritual now. I especially love the Sunday evening episode - don't know why as it signals the end of the weekend

That's my favourite episode of the week too! After the hussle and bussle of the weekend, I afford myself the luxury of sitting down, feet up, coffee in hand and listen to the broadcast. I rarely catch the other episodes as they are broadcast but catch up later in the evening or occasionally with the Omnibus on a Sunday. For me the Sunday night episode is a wee treat!

Re Anna - do you think she has got in in her to 'grill' Rob? She doesn't seem the type.

Ian is definitely the hero of the day, and we have not one but two Billy No-Mates in Rob and Shula, sent scurrying home with her meat paste sarnies - hah

I hope she does. There's going to be 180° turn at some point. Anna will roast him, Helen will be lucid and convincing, Henry will reveal a lot and will expose Rob. Rob will lose his temper - look how seething he became just at a slight criticism from Ian.

Re. episodes - funny how we all have favourites. Sunday is my least favourite as it denotes the end of the weekend and it's the signal for me to get my books out, do my marking and lesson prep. Friday's is my favourite, for the reasons you said for sunday!
It's lovely taking some chilled wind outside and listening to the Archers on the kitchen radio through the open window.

I like this idea about how hings might pan out with Charlotte. Lets hope she is wiser and tougher than she seemed at her interview. Maybe she was on her best behaviour.

Meat paste? Pah! I din't know you could even still buy meat paste.

Actually I have quite fond memories of it. Next time I go shopping I might see if I can buy a jar of Shiphams and a loaf of Mother's Pride and do a trip down memory lane to childhood picnics. I will have to wait for a wet afternoon and eat it sitting in a car though.

I grew up listening to the omnibus while doing the ironing as my mum cooked Sunday lunch, and having only come back to the Archers in the last couple of years, carried on only listening to the omnibus whilst doing various more dreary chores and inevitably missing bits while cleaning the bathroom, hoovering the stairs etc.. However, I've recently discovered the joys of downloading the day's episodes and listening to them on my sun lounger in the garden with earphones in. Just had the most relaxing afternoon doing just this, although I did nod off at one point when Clarrie was banging on about something.
And I thought last nights episode at the cricket was superb - Shula hawking her egg and cress, meat paste and tuna sandwiches in vain and eventually having to take them home...and Ian handing Rob his backside on a platter.
Roll on next week!

I was going to say she must have, because didn’t someone (Jill?) say she had a great reputation - but having just listened to her with her pal, I'm not so sure She is very needy. I thought the friend was a girlfriend in the romantic sense at first, but it seems she's with Max (Anna's ex?) so I gave up trying to work it out.

I'm sure, though that Anna will come up with the goods where it matters - in court.

She wouldn't be working as a Barrister if she wasn't capable of cross-examining a witness. I reckon with her wig and Queen Anne mourning clothes she'll be quite intimidating.

Her pal IS Max, soon to be divorced from Anna.

Anna referred to her ex as Max but today she was talking to Maxine so I reckon that her ex is Maxine.

I sometimes wonder if iPlayer has raised the listening figures- it's certainly made me a more frequent listener than I ever was in my younger days; transmission times as they stand are never gel with me being anywhere near a radio.

I know the Piri piri chicken sandwiches were the crowd-pleasers, but the mere mention of meat-paste and egg&cress butties gave me such a heady retro-rush that I could've re-written all 3 opening chapters of A la Recherche du Temps Perdu in one go, and without the need for translation. I've been craving them ever since.

Oh - Anna was married to a woman - I didn't realise. This evening's scenes make more sense now.

eta If they were married.

I don't think the gender of Max was mentioned until tonight which just goes to show that our assumptions were wrong.
I thought it was quite a clever turn of events.
