Please, please, please can Rob somehow get a part in Lynda's Christmas production?

So much delicious scope for humiliation!

They could re-create 'Calendar Girls' as a stage play with Rob as the photographer!!

But Rob doesn't think he's been outed, he thinks he's the victim of a massive injustice. He sticks around because he genuinely believes he's the victim in this, and that he has nothing to be ashamed of.

It's that narcissistic personality disorder again.

If someone were to brand him a rapist in public and Rob decided to sue for defamation of character and slander / libel how far could the parties involved go in forcing Helen and others to give evidence?

It's Jack after Jack Archer, not Jack Woolley. Jack Archer was Peggy's first husband and the father of Tony, Lillian & Jennifer. He was Phil Archer's elder brother and was, with Peggy, the licencee of The Bull, at one time. He was a bit of a soak, too, I seem to remember!

Right- is Bartleby a horse? Just making sure, and that he's not a dog.

And I personally find it infuriating when you ask someone "How old is he/she" and they reply "Pretty old". Well yeah- obviously! Up there with "When did that happen?" "Oh a while ago". If you don't know the answer- say so. Not many things grind my gears, but that does... ... and...breathe.

I believe he's a pony. Joe sometimes goes out with him harnessed to a trap.

I will be very sad if this is to be the end of Bartleby. I love the idea of some old geezer popping to the pub by pony and trap.

I wonder if you can get done for being pissed in charge of a trap?

I don't know. But I believe if you are in charge of a pony and trap or horse and cart you can legally piss in the street.

No 'bit of' about it, he was a card carrying alcoholic, spent time in psychiatric hospital and died of liver disease aged 49. He was Christine Barford's brother too. She has been quiet lately hasn't she?. Last time I remember hearing about her she was in the kitchen burning cakes or some such.

I know that Jack Woolley isn't Helen's actual grandfather, but the way she said to Peggy 'that he was such a good grandfather to her', made me think that it was despite him not being her biological grandfather.

Plus going on what An Thropologist said that he died at 49, I doubt that Helen ever met Jack Archer.

Lastly, Peggy seemed quite touched that he was to be named Jack. By all accounts she doesn't have fond memories of her first husband, so I doubt that she'd be so pleased if he had been called after Jack Archer.

Also just found this on the BBC Archers section confirming that it's Jack Woolley

Then I stand corrected! Who am I to argue against the BBC itself?!

Thank you

And I don't know the DUI laws on this one, sadly.

My only equine-related factoid is that slipping on a banana skin started out as a visual euphemism in silent films for slipping on horse muck.

I think there's an element of that. There is also the ideal fed to us constantly of a static end-goal where everything will be rosy and lovely forevermore (cf the ending of most films). And that just isn't realistic.”

Awww please don't burst my bubble ....that rosy glow is AMAZING!

Sadly it seems to be a myth. But in searching I did find that it is actually illegal to be drunk in charge of a horse, ditto carriage, cow or steam engine (Licensing Act 1872) or indeed be drunk and in posession of a loaded firearm.

This was quite entertaining reading. The topless Liverpudlian woman in a tropical fish shop particularly - where on earth!!!!

I'm not at all sure about that, but horses ridden at night on the public highway are required to display lights front and back.

Off topic so please forgive me.

A family member was studying for police promotion exams and came across the law stating that it is illegal to serve an intoxicated person in a pub.

Back on topic now...

Pip is annoying me so much that if I weren't so gripped by the 'Rob/Helen' storyline I'd pack in the Archers again.
Who the 'eff-word' does that little madam think she is?

She thinks she has a God-Given right to get her own way at all times and seriously needs to be brought down a peg.........or ten.
You go Jill and continue to correct her.
Do not put up with her selfishness.
I guarantee she lives rent-free and now the 'boyfriend' is about to start free-loading too.

Does anyone here actually like that little b*t*h?

Toby is a smarmy creep. Pip has appalling taste in men.

Still, being deprived of Jill's cake and casseroles may well bring her to her senses.

I don't disagree about Pip or Toby, but don't you think Jill is losing it.
Seems a bit petty and vindictive to not let Toby have any of her surplus flapjacks. Usually, she's reasonable, gentle and generous (remember when she was being turfed out for Heather-pet, she took that lying down). I think this is behaving quite out of character.
So imo either there's a new writer that is changing the way she would usually react or maybe these are the first signs of some form of dementia.

No I think it is sign of bad writing by people who have no respect for the integrity of the characters. They make them behave like puppets to fulfil the drama rather than let the characters lead the drama.

I have some sympathy for Jill but I agree she is going over the top in a manner I find implausible. But then Pat behaving like a Stepford mother and then a weeping wimp was equally implausible.
