It is a tricky one. What would be made of someone refusing to rent a house to Adam and Ian because their relationship conflicted with the house owner's religious beliefs?
Nobody is obliged to rent anything to anyone they don't want to. If someone said that the reason was that they didn't want a gay couple living in the house then there would be grounds for complaint. Just saying "no" - or words, polite or otherwise to that effect, without qualifying it wouldn't be grounds. So Lilian should just tell Rob to do one.

That would be illegal under anti-discrimination legislation!

Rob chooses be a rapist wife-beater, Adam and Ian don't choose to be gay.

I'm surprised that Lilian didn't flat-out turn Rob down. She's not going to show him round the property, is she?
What, and risk being alone in an empty house with him? I bloody wouldn't.

Well, I might if I was armed with todger-removing equipment.

I didn't catch it - where is she renting out?

Her own house - nothing to with Justin?

In which case she can refuse to show Rob around or rent it to him. Nothing in law to prevent that, and she needn't explain herself.
Just tell him 'No'.
One of her Amside properties, I believe.

I'm sure she'll refuse, it would have been a pointless bit of dialogue otherwise. As for explanation as to why, I think "Because you're sociopathic rapist and I wouldn't let you sleep in my shed" would suffice.

O shut up Justin you rapist sympathising berk.

"I'm not pushing you into anything" he says, as he pushes Lilian quite blatantly.

Some one should offer him a bunk with the fishes in the River Am.

This could be quite interesting! Should Lilian refuse to let Rob rent one of Amside Properties she may alienate Justin and create a lot of tension between the two of them. On the other hand it wouldn't be Lilian if she didn't just tell Rob exactly what she thought of him and refuse him a tenancy.

How old is Lilian supposed to be? 60+? Peggy is coming up for 92!

Lilian is 69, or maybe 70. Certainly no younger.

Well hitherto a Lilian pushed is a Lilian who dug in her elegant heels. But as in the recent past they have turned liberal fminists like Pat and Helen in to fawning sycohoantic Stepford wives Lilian wil be whatever the editors wants them her be.

So sad when a relationship between adulterers breaks down!

Quite. Hope they don't wreck Lilian for the sake of Rob's narrative.
It's about time he sodded of altogether. I'm fed up of him now - it's not even love to hate any more. He just bores me.

I enjoyed that.

His pretending to have found a much better property than Lilian's was fab, but his rant about not being allowed to join the hunt was priceless.

I love it when Rob's in an episode. I just have so much hate to give him.

I think he might be going slowly bonkers.

Fantastic acting, and good writing, too.

Ok, scratch that. I think I've realised I'm only bored of him when he has the upper hand
It is rather delicious when he is humiliated and brought low eg by Lilian and by Oliver last week

I reckon there may be more to come when Lynda finds out he's the only person prepared to be in her panto this year.

No flies on Justin then! Now we can see why he gave Rob the job as Estate Manager. He has found in Rob the perfect EM who will delight in doing Damara's dirty work and at the same time rejoice in alienating the villagers on a regular basis.

Nice to hear Charlie getting a mention.

Yeah - it's clear what Justin is up to. He's wants an already hated figure to be responsible for delivering Damara's unpopular schemes, knowing that the villagers will shoot the messanger.

Rob is cutting a rather pathetic figure atm - all that obsequious grovelling to Justin. What a toady.

oooh do elaborate. we've had full-on scenarios before - eg he's gored by another Bridge Farm bull; he gets stuck in The Culvert as water levels rise; he falls down the stairs after tripping on Henry's toys; he gets fatally force-fed one of Jill's 300 gallon casseroles; his bowel bag explodes in his face; he dies of mental fatigue after one of Peggy's sermons...

I'm sure there are more!

... he breaks a leg in a fall on estate land on a hunting day, and while he's lying injured he gets ripped apart by a pack of slavering hounds

... Ed fails to spot him walking along behind a hedge when he's flail cutting, and chops his head off

... he dies after sampling Toby's gin which Toby flavoured with something toxic by mistake (added bonus: Toby goes to prison for manslaughter)

... he suffocates because he has his head so far up Justin's backside
