I never minded Adam - I just saw him as a neutral sort of character and always felt a bit sorry for him when Debbie was being arsey about something or other. I really went off him though when I found out on here about the Polish lad in the polytunnel

Ian is a sweetheart and doesn't deserve to be treated so badly

Maybe a future storyline could be Adam seeking help for his uncontrollable lust and sex addiction. Ian might forgive him if he thinks Adam has a 'medical' problem

Are Ian and Helen still good friends? Seem to remember he had doubts about sinister Rob and got into a fight with him, but since then Ian and Helen haven't seen much of each other.

Hopefully what is going on with Roy and Hayley will make Mike see sense and he will put his foot down and stay!

He is lovely but he does sound like and remind me of that awful w@nker JP Devlin on Saturday Live.

The actor who plays Ian doesn't 'look' like Ian which makes me sad. I want him to be gorgeous!

I don't really care about Adam and Ian, I can't even remember the last time they were heard together, that's the one thing I don't like about the show, people just vanish for months or years

This is the danger of ever looking at the character profiles.
To me Ian is a sexier version of Colin Murray (Radio 1)

who's also from N.I,hence the accent association.

Irritating - tries too hard to be funny.

David and Ruth *can't* leave Brookfield

The whole point of the programme is that there are Archers at Brookfield!

****

Carol needs to get used to being called 'Mrs Tregorran' by the peasant class of Ambridge.
This is just basic convention.

I'll have to take your word for that - I don't like talk radio.

I'm very careful to avoid seeing pictures of the actors since I saw some of Matt and Lillian - really wished I hadn't clicked that link...

I hate that too. I really like Robert Snell, but when he was on last week it was so long since I'd heard him I wasn't sure if it was the same actor. Oliver, Caroline and Eddie are hardly ever in it, while Ruth and David seem to be in every episode.

I wouldn't mind if David and Ruth went up North as I think they're pretty boring - but there have to be Archers at Brookfield (if that is the name of their farm) and there are no other contenders so I can't see them going. Shame Kenton has no interest in farming, as he and Jolene would be much more fun

So David's mum is perplexed at the thought of Ruth and David selling up to be near Ruth's mum, whilst at the same time leaving her to her own devices? Me too, luv, me too.

I agree.

They could wangle it so the other Archers (the Jack Archer descendants) could take over at Brookfield. Perhaps Tom if he comes back!

There are a lot of junior characters who are Archers by marriage of course, the Hebden-Lloyds and Pargetters etc.

I've missed a key bit of info in this story - what's the matter with Ruth's mum?

If David said she'd deteriorated a lot between visits then she'll probably cark it before long anyway.
I reckon this story will have legs - big quandary about selling Brookfield, they'll decide to sell, then just as they're about to sign the contracts, Ruth's mum will kick the bucket and the deal will fall through.

Ruth's mum Heather had a fall I think, went into hospital and doesn't look like making a full recovery. She'll need some care but insists on staying at home so Ruth wants to move to be nearer to her.

I wondered if Heather might die and remove the need for David and Ruth to up sticks

It would be convenient for the storyline

Heather is 'fiercely independent' I think

She doesn't want to give up her independence apparently. Maybe it's all just a ploy to get Ruth to move nearer her

So fiercely independent that she is using emotional blackmail to get Ruth to move back up North uprooting her family and whole way of life to help her remain "independent"? Doesn't sound like the Heather we know from previously.

I wondered if Heather might be trying a spot of emotional blackmail to get Ruth back up North. She seemed very sweet when she visited Ambridge, but she managed to upset Jill - which is hard to do - and had the brass neck to think Phil would prefer her marmalade to supercook Jill's

Yeah the weakness in thist story is that we're not getting any context from Adam's actual relationship except for ages ago when Adam had to do harvesting for Charlie instead of going to a friend's wedding/birthday(?) with Ian.

I think they've done it so as not to make it obvious that they're setting Adam and Charlie up for an affair/fling.
We all spotted it a mile off though.

Rob: "...all the better for coming back to this idyll, greeted by an affectionate and talented child and a beautiful and thoughtful fiancée."

Bleeeeeurgh

If ever Rob went into the sea, they'd have to bring out the emergency services to clean up the subsequent oil slick.

Ooh yes! That's him to a tee!

I know I shouldn't look at profiles but sometimes they just appear on my iphone as if by magic!😳

I listened to Raffles the other day and realised it was Oliver Stirling. He SO does not look like he should!!!

Usha was in Hollyoaks recently...that was just plain wrong!
