:But agree with Diamond Doll that from what we have seen of the imperious Mrs Elliot, I can't see her being bothered. She probably views Lilian as the help, hired to service her hubby so she doesn't have to.

I think you're probably right, but Rob won't see it that way.

With a bit of luck, he'll tell her, she'll divorce Justin and strip him of half his assets, Demara will have to be sold, and both Justin and Rob will have to leave Ambridge.

I don't think Lilian does knickers.
Maybe I've missed something, but why would Rob stir it, with the chance of upsetting Justin, the only person who has stuck by him, and his employer to boot?
Revenge on Lilian for not letting him Hillside? Tho short-sighted because Justin will realise what a snake Rob is if Lilian tells him of the threats.

Was he just 'fishing' for conformation of his suspicions which dopey Tony then gave him? Wouldn't it have been better for Tony to act ignorant of the affair.
I was hoping the omnibus would clear up my confusion, but I think you're right. It was Tony who made Rob's fishing expedition concrete. I still think it was lazy writing though. All Lilian had to do was pooh-pooh the assertion and Rob would be left with a scarf and unfounded suspicion.

Home Farm taking on another 330 acres?
That's a lot - they'd need extra staff.

I wouldn't trust any deals put forward by Justin.

Lol at Brian pontificating on affairs

Yes, and I bet Rob will get his oar in. Don't think he'd let a bargain sale of land to Adam go smoothly.

I thought they went to Bournemouth ...
Glad I wasn't the only dumpling.

In my defence I did think it was a very long way to go and still get back in time for dinner.

It does validate the idea that 'Borsetshire' is probably in the Warwickshire / Worcestershire area. You could make Barmouth and back fairly comfortably in a day.

And they do speak quite often of holidays in Wales or going to agri markets in Wales, (didn't New Tom and Jazzer etc end up shearing in Llandrindod Wells a few months ago?)

Oh I don't know. Maybe you have a case of familiarity breeds contempt Welsh Lad. Barmouth isn't a bad place, if its the place I think it is. Isn't it the town with the funicular railway?
.
Yes there is a little coastal railway that goes form Fairbourne (Friog) along the Barmouth coast. It has blue carriages.

Fairbourne's narrow guage railway is just across the estuary from Barmouth, the funicular railway is at Aberystwyth and goes up the cliff at the north end of the town. Totally different types of railway.

Yeah I know. I was pointing out that this might have been the railway An Thropologist was referring to.

Barmouth and Aberystwyth are quite different in size!

You are right of course, the constitution hill carriage is on a funicular railway, though I would never refer to it as a railway personally.
When I think of railways in that area I think of the Vale of Rheidol heritage railway!

Hehe. It's real alright!
Barmouth is corruption of Abermaw (itself a contraction of Abermawdd[ach])

It means 'the mouth of the river mawdd[ach]'

So by rights the English name should be Mawddmouth!

Totally random - I found a vid on Youtube the other day. It's Dechrau Canu (the Welsh version of Songs of Praise. It comes from Siloam Chapel in Barmouth in 1988!

Big Welsh singing from 2:25 mins in

When Lilian briefed Justin, I just didn't get the gaping omission.

Then last night as I was falling asleep I thought of a theory. She didn't mention Rob as part of her and Tony's plot 'to not play Rob's game'. Maybe they are hoping that Rob assumes that she will run to Justin to tell him. So, then when Rob makes threatening insinuations Justin will be intimidated. Instead Justin will not react as Rob expects and Rob will be totally wrong-footed.

Hmm, well, that's the best I can come up with any other ideas?

I think we're going to be put out of our misery tonight, but they've built it up so much it's going to have to be a total slap-stick disaster. I'm bracing myself for 15 minutes of Susan wailing.

Haha the author made a spelling mistake - should have been 'benthyg'
It meant 'Thanks to Olwen Telford for lending me the DVD'

Although it was telegraphed what would happen It did make me laugh. Kids always throw up at the "wrong" moment.
That said, there's probably never a right moment ..!
