I think young Pip might be finally getting a clue. Not before time. Gran will be over the moon

Oooh yes - cue loads of "I told you so" speeches.

Still, Pip's always got Rex to fall back on, that'll rile Jill up all over again.

Blimey, none of us saw that one coming!

They have to get back together now, surely?

Again I think I must've missed an episode. When did Tom and Kirsty get jiggy with it??

Nevertheless, I'm delighted!!

It was a while ago now. Around the time of Helen's trial, maybe?

It was just after the first custody hearing post trial. A celebratory "no-strings" bonk as it were. Or not as it turns out

Apropos of nothing here, does anyone mind if I kick Ruth hard? Metaphorically of course .

And if Toby's truck has really broken down, then I'm Teresa May.
I dont think its women. i remeber rex saying something like youre not up to your old tricks again, toby, when he went to brighton the last time. my speculation would be something to do with his old rugby days, dealing performance enhancing drugs?????

It maybe that Rob will save you the trouble when he comes roaring back after a few days of Bruce and Ursula indoctrine.

Rugby players. Brighton.
He's been bonking a rugger bugger!

Don't tell Adam or he'll be smarming his way onto Toby like an animated ball of slime.

New Tom sounded a bit shell shocked.
They'll tiptoe around each other a bit more, then go with the flow and get together.

Ruth is dreadful but I'm a bit torn on this one. Jill needed telling, but then she is probably right about Toby being a rogue.

I was amused by Jill's incredulity at being pulled up. She'd made turkey corpse fricassee for goodness sake!! Did that count for nothing?!

Someone at BBC Towers must have over indulged last night and dropped a clanger today when they dropped the Archers omnibus as part of the daily podcast but with this evening's summary.

(the omnibus is a separate podcast)

Happy new year Archerites.

I think Jill wil be totally vindicated and Ruth will do her repentent Geordie routine. I think she is handling it badly but her instincts are spot on. Dying to know what the rat bag (Toby) is doing in Brighton.

Something which will see him banged up I'm sure.

Poor New Tom - awwwwkwaaaard!

Poor Roy, being molested by Tracy's cavernous maw.
Poor Johnny - all randy and be-shirted, but no-one to pull

Bad night for the young men of Ambridge!

I felt for Lilian, anticipating much

and now deflated like a balloon - undergoing the plight of mistresses to married men all over the world.

Entre nous - thank heavens for a lovely 15 minutes in a day devoted to bloody wall to wall Jeremy Irons reading poetry. I've never liked poetry and I like it even less now

Quite agree. Why is he reading it in that awful languorous 'the bhaaaard' type way?
I often think if poetry was read in a normal neutral way, too many people would realise how dire most of it is.... so they've got to pep it up with dramatics.

Agree re. Lilian. Decidedly 'the other woman' tonight.

I don't like poetry either. It's bad enough reading it, but having it read to me is even worse. I particularly can't abide 'performance poetry' where it's read out in that dum-te-dum-te-dum way.

Oh no what a shame. I bet they will kill off the character too. Maybe that was what the Italian move was all about.

And.....he's back. Having to maintain his cool while being needled by Am-dram Adam, only for his cool to disappear along with the girls who 'labelled' his car. Poor baby.

She has asked for her character not to be killed off.

I do hope Kirsty lets slip (to Susan say) what was scrawled on his windscreen.

They planned the move months ago. She only found out about the cancer in September. She wants them to cast someone else as Caroline. She's suggested the real-life wife of Oliver (who apparently used to be married to Simon Williams)

Oh, that's sad. She's a good actress, and Caroline is an excellent character.

It explains the "retiring to Tuscany" SL.

I hope it said "rapist". And it was a shame they didn't paint it on the bodywork, in brake fluid.

I loved the way Kirsty spoke to him. Really wound him up, and without actually being rude or insulting.

Me too . Adam's also twigged how to get at him - needling him over Jack and Henry.
It was more bitchy than Kirsty's direct and cool dismissiveness though!

New Tom's approach to Kirsty's pregnancy is pure car crash listening. He's being very English about it - skirting around his feelings.... and doing the whole 'Let's be practical about this - you move in with me" routine.
Tantamount to "I've put you in the family way but don't worry, I'll do the right thing and marry you."
It'll pan out though. It's all quite sweet really.
