Really can't believe David's attitude. There's more to Jill's life in Ambridge than him and his brood. I don't really see how having Jill with them up North would make the move more bearable anyway.

Ruth and Heather are being rather selfish. Wanting to uproot the entire family. This isn't going to end well😞.

Hayley was fabulous this week. She finally reminded Roy that he wasn't the only one who could make choices. I honestly cheered when she walked out. He never even saw it coming - he underestimated her that much.

Yes that was good. When did Roy become such a nasty selfish sap I guess it must be Elizabeth's influence I wonder if they will now get together legitimately as Hayley has finally done the right thing and dumped him. I felt it may be heading that way when Elizabeth was telling Carol that it was hard to forget her feelings or some such dross.

As for the move, on the one hand I can't think of anything better than the bore fest that is David and Ruth disappearing for good but on the other cannot quite believe this would ever happen, so wonder what this story line is leading to

Ruth and her mother are the selfish ones, not David. Heather is old and might not last for many more years, so it's ridiculous that Ruth wants them all to up sticks and move to be nearer to her.

With that kind of attitude why bother looking after or being there for any elderly people as they are probably going to die soon

To be fair to Heather it has been stated that she said that she doesn't want them to move just for her. I guess Ruth feels guilty about leaving her Mum to a string of carers and not being there for her herself. Ideally I suppose Heather should go into sheltered accommodation but she doesn't want that which I understand.

I don't actually think anyone is being selfish, it's just a very difficult situation and actually very realistic so kudos to the Archers for that.

Oh God, Roy and Elizabeth as a viable long-term pairing? Bleurgh. I hope not, they were flaming awful together. I never got the impression Elizabeth loved Roy, she was just lonely. And I doubt she'd do something that would make her precious Freddie sad. If it comes to that, Roy didn't love Elizabeth either, he was just infatuated.

Carol, on the other hand, now there's a character I can get behind. She's AWESOME. She can mix me a martini any day.

I love Carol too. Ideally Jill could move in with her as they'd make great roomies and Ruth and David could leave with Pip

I agree about Elizabeth but it seemed odd that they had her say it was hard to forget or get over her feelings. So with Hayley dumping Roy I just wondered if that was the way they were going to take it. I'm imagining this would pave the way for much rebellion from Freddie which would serve the awful Elizabeth right

I know David and Roooth are meant to be the next gen heart of the village types, but they ain't half boring. They can go, frankly. The Grundies can move in to Brookfield.

I think both David and Jill are viewing the move as hypothetical only, hence the ability to talk about it. It's quite easy to talk about something distressing if, deep down, you don't truly think it's going to happen.

If the road route went ahead and the move would become a very real option I think they'd both hold firm. Can't imagine Jill moving away from Ambridge.

Jill's playing a blinder re the move.

She's landed David in it now by telling him he needs to involve Kenton, Shula and Elizabeth in a family conference before the plan/valuation goes any further.... but she won't attend the meeting herself as she won't want to show she's taking sides.

Do any of the other three Archer children have a claim on Brookfield, or the proceeds should David sell up?

I can't remember if they still have a claim on the farm, but even if they don't, that won't stop them banging on. Elizabeth is bound to take the moral high ground!! Can't wait!

I assume that the farm has been in the family for generations. If so I can't see any of them being too happy at it going to a stranger.

Surely the value of the farm will be quite reduced with the threat of the by-pass going straight through the middle of it. Also, if they were to say they were going to sell then I should imagine it would make the proposed road a shoo-in as the developers wouldn't have to make a compulsory purchase order against any of the land, they could buy it themselves. Then what's left could be used to grow grain for feeding the imprisoned cows at Berrow 'Farm'.

As far as I know all the children (and Jill) have shares in the farm? But if David is majority shareholder by stint of being the farm manager he could sell it from underneath his siblings which would undoubtedly create a stink with Shula and Elizabeth though I can see Kenton being happy to just take his share of the proceeds.

Looking forward to the family meeting. I reckon even Kenton will have something to say about the plan to possibly sell Brookside, and despite all her worries I think Lizzie will hit the roof - she'll want the farm kept intact in case young Master Freddie decides he'd like it when he's older.

According to wikipedia, and don't shoot me if it's wrong, Brookfield is:

"co-owned by three of Phil's four children: David (who manages it with his wife Ruth), Elizabeth and Kenton."

I honestly haven't a clue why Shula isn't on that list, but that definitely implies Elizabeth and Kenton at least have a share, and would be entitled to a slice if they sold it.

I remember Elizabeth getting in a major strop over inheritance once, though of course she's loaded now anyway.

I'm glad you have pointed that out. Heather refusing to come down to Ambridge and join the family at Brookfield has caused this, her being selfish and her daughter wanting the family to up-sticks all for the sake of Heather. Does Heather know about all this? What happens if they uproot and Heather pops her clogs. A bit far fetched to my mind that several people have to go to such lengths for the sake of one.

Also, what about the petition against the road going through Brookfield. Does this mean that David has just given in. All that work, and for nothing. Does this leave the door open for Jill to move in with friend Grace. Of course I know that Brookfield will always stay in Archer hands. They are surely not going to have a massive cull of Archers.......are they?
