I think Heather has been offered choices - she could move to Ambridge or into sheltered housing, but if she refuses to budge from her house I don't suppose there's much David and Ruth could do about it.

Does Ruth have any siblings? Perhaps they could club together and hire a live in companion for Heather?

Not sure if Heather knows of David and Ruth's plans to sell up, but she seemed quite a reasonable person, so maybe when she finds out she'll agree to the sheltered accommodation.

I think she should move in with rebel Carol. One of the things I like about Jill is her giggle and Carol makes her giggle an awful lot. I've no problem with David, Ruth and Pip disappearing off North for the forseeable.

Me too Really enjoying it and on tenterhooks with several story lines. The sublime Elizabeth comeuppance post Roy Dalliance though Phoebe's introduction into this is almost as much a turn off on the scale of Freddie's Let's hope they are sidelined and the grown ups can tear each other apart Then there is the slow burner of evil Rob and the the soon to be torrid affair between slapper Adam and snob yuppie Charlie.

Great stuff ”

Agree with everything you have said.......

adam is a bit of an a middle class slapper. poor ian. i hope he doesn't have a thing with charlie.

loved the mention of doris in the archers. its great how the archers can use its rich history and embroider it into the present.

Ian needs to get back to being best friends with Helen and sussing out the evil Rob.

I like the older references. In our family we talk about the oldies who aren't with us any more, especially when there are current activities that bring to mind memorable or funny events.

I don't know if she has siblings, not that I can recall any being mentioned.

The trouble seems to be that she is getting increasingly frail and with that the mind begins to fail. Not that she is losing her marbles, but with many older people, perspective is lost and they become insular and self involved.

So her daughter may have to force the issue. If Heather pet still refuses point blank to budge then I can see why Ruth feels she has to be closer.

But it's not practical or logical.

And her and David won't have the profit from the sale of Brookfield, they will have a portion of it, and what size portion we don't know.

Anyway, the archers farm Brookfield, that's the story.

It's not going well for Roy is it. A moral lesson from the archers. Mess about behind your wife's back and you lose your wife, kids. Job, reputation etc,

I wonder what Mike will do when his boy is in such trouble and his whiny Mrs is droning on about moving to Brum so they can get the right support for Bethany. (What a lot of rubbish that is!)

Nah, it's not sensible but it's a real dilemma that people face.

A friend of mine moved from New Zealand to be with her mum after her dad died.

Don't know, are the Tuckers really going? Shame if so, I like Mike a lot. Betty dying was one of the saddest ever storylines. Got to say, not keen on his new wife though. Always liked Hayley as well, but no idea who she might get together with now Roy's imploded. Bit of a drought of available decent straight fellas in Ambridge these days.

Brian survived his multiple past infidelites but went a bit quiet tonight when his missus was talking about the Roy / Hayley situation.

I wish Ian and Helen were still friendly, but I think Rob put the kibosh on that

Tonight's episode made me laugh out loud a few times

Spoiler
Brian saying Roy and Elizabeth's thing was Lawrentian

Jenny, Brian and Adam all knowing about Roy and Lizzie

Jennifer reminding Brian of his philandering past

And best of all, Charlie playing hard to get. Really do hope he has no interest in Adam other than getting him into bed once

Happy days

I'm loving how Jenny is subtly digging at Brian and his philandering past!!!

Also, how Linda is contemplating going over to the dark side this panto season!

I hope that there definitely is no panto in Ambridge this year, as much as Lynda amuses me, the pant stories annoy me!

Gosh, I'm actually feeling sorry for Elizabeth

Starting to think she should front it out .... (I shagged Roy so what??? )

Think if Susan has sniffed it out it'll soon be all around the village, so she might as well.

Rob is on top sinister form - Helen is constructing her own prison.

Can anyone tell me please - is Tina who works at Ambridge Organics anything to do with Rob? I think I must have missed it when she was hired, and Rob seems to think a lot of her

Is Tina a silent character?

Also, what about the petition against the road going through Brookfield. Does this mean that David has just given in. All that work, and for nothing. Does this leave the door open for Jill to move in with friend Grace. Of course I know that Brookfield will always stay in Archer hands. They are surely not going to have a massive cull of Archers.......are they? ”

We haven't heard from Heather at all but Ruth has reported her saying she doesn't want to give up her independence and go into sheltered accommodation, she also said she didn't want to move and leave all her friends and she has apparently also said that David and Ruth shouldn't sell up and move just for her.

David's position seems to be that moving will be a last resort, only if the road gets built but that doesn't really make sense as Heather will need looking after whether the road is built or not. I think Ruth's acting out of pure guilt and is being a wee bit sneaky as I think she wants to move whatever, so is pushing for that but I don't think she's really thought it through either as you're right, what if Heather pops her clogs as soon as they move

I want Jill to stay and move in with Carol. I like them both and think they'll have a hoot. Also I'd love David and Ruth to move as they are so very dull but I really can't see it happening which makes me think the road won't go ahead through Home Farm and that poor Heather's days are numbered.

The panto stories annoy me too - not sure they work on the radio, with every hilarious event having to be explained to us by one of the characters.

I did think it was funny though, when Lillian was in it and nipped out for a fag At least, I think that was the panto.

I love Lillian, and Lynda too. Good old Baby Mungo - bringing them together

Sigh of relief here too. The panto line needs a break.
It's always the same - Lillian getting in a flap, dodgy auditions, tension over parts and the production. There's only so much you can do with it.

Tuned in tonight just as Elizabeth was saying "I've hosted so many balls"

... well she's certainly entertained Roy's!

Love the line developing re the Archer children having stakes in Brookfield should there be a sale- there's going to be a good deal of tension when Ruth realises this.

The way Rob is beginning to control Helen is really insidious and is being unfurled very realistically.
This is often exactly how domestic violence and control starts. The way he got her thinking she's got to text him when she goes out of the house was chilling.
Alarm bells Helen - *abort now*!

I know Rob was very involved with the hiring so maybe he does know her It's a fantastic story line and evil Rob is playing a blinder here

So Brookfield is worth £4m.

Makes you realise how wealthy the agricultural community is (and I don't mean hobby farmers and smallholders, but the old farming families in all localities in the UK).

It's an odd kind of wealth though - all tied up in assets and land, to which there is also very often a deep traditional and sentimental attachment.

They may be asset rich, but they could be cash poor.

As small businesses go (which a family run farm is) it is pretty small beer. It only looks a lot if you were thinking of selling up and spending it all on cheap strong supermarket cider and a satellite TV subscription.
