Can't abide the winning bint. With her god damn awful droning North East accent, Kill me now. I think David should have the Duke Of Edinburgh medal for living with her for all those years. I mean what does she have to offer. She can't cook, she is filthy mare who has never hoovered or used a duster in her life. I am surprised Brookfield has not been condemned. Doris will be turning in her grave. Disgraceful.
![]() ![]() Ruth is a disgrace isn't she It's no wonder Jill feels she always has to hover close by - left to her own devices Ruth would either starve or poison everyone at Brookfield.

So what exactly does Ruth do all day?? I've never looked at the character pages as I have my own idea of how the characters look. To me Ruth is basically Katy Murphy from 1990s kids sitcom Mike and Angelo, though obviously not Scottish. http://showbizgeek.com/wp-content/up...t-11.38.26.png http://upload.mediatly.com/card_pict...b034dfa69f.jpg |

I imagine her as chunky with short dark hair and wearing jeans that look like she borrowed them from David. I did see a picture of Felicity Finch once and she was slim and fair, but I still see Ruth my way

No offence to him, he's not unattractive or anything, but Chris in my mind looks different. ![]() To me, a refusal to look at the 'who's who' page would be akin to a Pride and Prejudice fan refusing to watch the TV or film versions, or even look at any stills or promotional material. |

When an actor is cast for television or film they are cast not only for their acting skill etc but also for the way they look. They must be convincing and look the part; this is a major part of casting. Radio plays are different in that people are cast based on whether they sound like a proposed character. You might, in that regard, hear a strapping rugby player character played by a skinny 5'6" man. Radio fiction demands an element of imagination - the way the actual actor looks is totally irrelevant. And apparently the Archers character pages (which my mum has seen) are rather daft stills of the entirely unconvincing urban actors shoved into wellies and photographed in random farmyard scenes. I'll give it a miss. |

I've heard quite a few people don't look at pictures of the cast! Though, to me, you can still have a view of what a character looks like even if you've seen the actor because the actors aren't really the characters in the same way as they are in TV soaps.
For example, Chris is always described as a hunky farrier yet the actor who plays him isn't what I would call a hunk. No offence to him, he's not unattractive or anything, but Chris in my mind looks different. ![]() Quote:

I always had an image of David in my mind as I already knew what the actor looked like after I saw him in By The Sword Divided donkeys years ago, so he wasn't a shock. |

I made the mistake of looking once, and it spoiled my image of what the characters looked like. They don't look anything like I imagined them to look and no matter how much I try to picture the characters in my mind, the actors keep appearing in my head. Is Vicky a brassy blonde in anyone else's imagination?
I didn't like the Roman Polanski version of Tess of the D'Urbervilles because he picked people who looked nothing like the characters. I do find that most of the time the actors picked for a production 'will do', but not that particular film. ![]() I thought Nastassia (sp?) Kinski was wonderful as Tess even if she didn't exactly match the physical description in the book

Wow, Charlie. I never imagined he could get so emotional about a lorryload of silage.
I hope it turns out that Evil Rob poisoned the feed. |
