I know! Why the bloody hell don't they stand up to him?
Pat useless in supporting Helen even when hen she was making it clear to Rob she wanted the original name for the tearoom.

When Rob was castigating her afterwards and storming out to the pub in a sulk I was stood doing the ironing, in fury!

I literally want her to push him down the stairs, and not a little push, but a full on sharp shove so he pelts it down and smashes his face to pieces.

Sorry.... .... this is really triggering aggression now!

Yes, she does. That's partly why I don't think she'll be having them back in there.

That was a bit of a 'breather' episode.

More of Ruth panicking as Brookfield sinks under further layers of feg, and Adam rebutting those ne'er-do-well Fairbrother boys!

They'll never forgive Pip if she goes into partnership with Adam. Lol.

Lucky Rob doesn't need a job while he is using Peggy's money.

I expect he can get a top up from the same source,

Helen has never been the same since that night he ravished her. I wonder what happened.

"Listen to what I tell you, and don't try and do everything your own way"

Urgh. Stupid Henry's burnt hand just vindicated everything Rob's been feeding her.
How long are they going to torment us with this storyline?

I can't believe Stupid Henry was taken to A&E in an ambulance just for a burn on the hand from a sparkler that had gone out. It can only have been minor, he'd have dropped it the instant he picked it up.

I thought he must have at least fallen in the bonfire, the way they were reacting.

I thought Rob was right about not leaving Henry with Susan though.

Henry's burn was a piece of luck for him.

I nearly cried tonight when Ruth asked Jill to come back to Brookfield.

Right guys I've not been here before but I've had enough of EastEnders at the mo after tonight's episode. TV in general is boring me. So is the Archers worth listening to right now?!

I used to watch Eastenders and Coronation Street but personally I prefer The Archers (I do watch Doctors which is much better than any other television soap in my own humble opinion ) Start listening and see what you think. You'll be shushing the family up at 7pm every night before you know it

Thanks for replying seejay. I will probably be listening to it on iPlayer. Finding other interesting things on radio 4 too

I agree. It nearly made me feel bad for being mean about Ruth.

Perhaps we all need a dose of Jill's goodwill.

... and at least now Ben's socks won't end up in the rice pudding or whatever.

We've had homeless Grundys before, though. Anyone else remember them ending up in a council high-rise in Felpersham, after they lost Grange Farm?

Now, who has a spare house. Is there a spare holiday let at Brookfield or cottage at Bridge Farm? I can't see Jennifer and Brian letting them rent one of theirs. Ed and Emma are in Will's house, Jill has got Carol Tregorran in hers, Fallon and Plod are in the old police house (as was) so unless Caroline can help them out (as usual) they're a bit stuffed (also as usual).

Who lives in the Dower House these days, or did Caroline sell it to buy Grey Gables?

Perhaps they'll buy a caravan and live in the field with Bartleby.

Welcome, miaow.

Yes, the Archers is definitely worth listening to. Are you a lapsed listener, or is it all new to you?

Current storylines are:

the emotionally frail and somewhat tragic Helen is in an abusive marriage with the Evil Rob (suggestions for entertaining ways he could be killed off are always welcome)

Grundys becoming homeless

the botulism plague affecting the cattle at Berrow Farm superdairy (possible sabotage of silage by by Evil Rob, who used to run it, possibly involving the corpse of Lynda's dog who disappeared in the flood)

Christmas show, Calendar Girls, involving most of the Ambridge womenfolk (so glad it's radio, not tv)

will Adam Almost-an-Aldridge finally let Charlie into his pants and split up with lovely Ian?

Fairbrother Brothers: one sensible, one feckless: which one will eventually get together with Pip Archer?

Moany Ruth and tedious David's unexpected inheritance of half-a-mill from Ruth's recently deceased mother, some of which will undoubtedly be used to finance daughter Pip in a share farming partnership with Adam (thus pissing off Feckless Fairbrother no end)

I'm sure others will add anything I've overlooked.

That's a brilliant summary Lakie Lady

Miaow Sponge - it's definitely worth giving The Archers a go to see if you get hooked. The storylines aren't resolved as quickly as Eastenders - 'Sinister Rob' and the will they won't they thing with Adam and Charlie have been building up for ages. Sometimes I don't listen for a while then I come on here and have to catch up

I really don't want the Grundys to be homeless I hope they don't end up in Meadow Rise again - I reckon it might finish poor old Joe off this time

Being looked after by Jill must be heavenly. I'm jealous of the Brookfield lot.

Love the way Ruth says 'mebbe' for 'maybe'

God, yes: cake, casseroles and a proper roast with all the trimmings every Sunday.

I bet Brookfield will smell of baking and beeswax polish within a couple of hours of her return.
