She's braised her way back to Brookfield, fair play.

Hope she's up for it. Boiling David's pants will take two days alone.
The volume of food is going to be of Edwardian proportions.
I fear the Aga may explode actually.

All will come to a head when Ruth finds a mock up of a motorway service station in Jill's room, complete with a car, and an effigy of Heather, stuck with pins, in the passenger seat.

I can practically hear her saying "Honestly David, I don't know what you've been doing with your underpants, they look as though you've been using them to clean out the milking parlour"

Carol Tregorran will have a lot to answer for - that sounds like her sort of thing.

I cant believe the Grundy never get some luck. I hope the Fairbrothers are found to swindle everyone and everyone will have to buy their turkeys from the Grundy's.

Listened to the omnibus on iPlayer tonight. Really enjoyed it so will look forward to listening to more so I can understand what's going on and join in with the chat on here properly

Also, my husband now thinks I'm being posh by listening to it!

Haha I love the Archers - listened it it all my life, though with breaks here and there.

What's lovely is that you can take breaks from it and return because the main characters remain and always behave like you would expect them to. It's very organic ('scuse the pun!) in that sense.

The stories are slow-burners and more realistic too.

Hope you carry on liking it

That is like the Horrorbins thinking the Grundys are posh

Wouldn't it be the worst fate of all for Rob to hook up with Hazel?

That would be fantastic! She'd keep his balls in a jar.

I was thinking that they're very similar in their nasty personalities, but Rob would never end up with anyone like that because he wouldn't be able to manipulate and control them.

Every time I listen to Helen & Rob I just want to shake her. What has happened to Helen? She used to be so strong. Can anyone understand how it's come to this? Is her self esteem so low that she thinks that everything Rob says or does is right and if she objects or disagrees she is 'undermining' him?
I think it's great how they've developed the Rob and Helen storyline. I can only imagine that it's going to end in even moe tears. Maybe Kirsty will help Helen out of this misery.

By the way what are the chances Helen's carrying a girl?

Well, that's brought me out of the comfort of lurking. Do you think so? Maybe before Greg but she's been pretty much a mess since then. She's been stubborn, on occasion, rather than strong, but to me she's always blamed herself for Greg's death and it's undermined her confidence to the point where she's easy pickings for someone like Rob.

I've listened to The Archers on and off, mostly on, since Grace Fairbrother was a bride and I'm really enjoying reading this thread. Mostly, thank you for introducing me to The Plarchers on Twitter - brilliant!

I am trying to get used to the voices still but one of the old boys' voices reminds me of the man in The Vicar Of Dibley who started every sentence with "no, no, no...".

I feel really sorry for the Grundys. Is horrid Hazel ever heard or is she an "off screen" type character?

Edit: forgot to say, why are the Grundys homeless? Was it their farm that all the cattle died on?

She's heard all right, and she makes Rob look like a Samaritan.

Joe Grundy - he's the old guy. Eddie is his son, who's married to Clarrie.
And they have a son called Ed.

Oh no she's definitely heard (most recently confronting her stepmother Peggy)
Hazel is the adopted daughter of Jack Woolley, who had Alzheimers on the programme for years. When he died Hazel came out of the woodwork to claim her inheritance.

The thing is, Jill only really feels at home in Brookfield and that happens to be where David and Ruth are. She also desperately needs to have a role in life, to be needed like she was in the old days. So Jill is getting as much out of coming back as Ruth and David are.

Yes, I agree.
I forget how long she was at Glebe Cottage for. She lived there for quite a bit didn't she, before it got broken into.

I know

Does anyone remember when Eddie was going to put a ferret down his trousers at some fête? Eddie's old, toothless Smokey was the chosen ferret, but couldn't make it for some reason. When someone offered a new younger ferret for the job Eddie tried to back out
