We all know that THIS is the case of course.
But he replied a whole lot of nonsence which persuaded NO one! (thus making him a Coward). I had great respect for Simon up until last night. I even said on another thread that if it came to VWS and G4 being on the last 2, yes Sharon might get rid of G4 (according to her comments on a CD:UK) but I was convinced that Simon would be fair and keep them despite Il Divo. How wrong was I. Simon is ruthless and despite his fair comments generally, last night he made a fool of himself. "I've always had a soft spot for those girls" my @ss! Simon COWARD is threatened by G4 and now that Louis only has them to look after, they will make the final if not win! Simon would rather have VWS in the competition because he saw them getting in the last 2 a number of times and he knew that they are not a threat to his acts in the competition or outside. But G4.... hhehehehe...he KNOWS that G4 could beat Rowetta and Steve, that's why he voted to get rid of them. It's all tactics. I would have kept my respect for him if he admited what Ben asked him (about worrying that G4 are competition for his acts , ie Il Divo) but noooooo...he chose to feed us a whole load of b*ll*cks. As if we are stupid.
Anyway, later Louis said that G4 are his favourite act, so we can easily predict that he'll produce albums etc for them (I just hope that he'll put more energy into them in the competition as well now and choose the right songs), so Simon and Il Divo (and the others) be afraid... be VERY afraid! :->”
Thanks for your time but I didn't think Ben's question made any sense at the time and I don't think your theory does either.
I don't for a moment believe Simon preferred VWS to G4. He was the one after all who said in the first round that if they'd come into his office and performed like that he'd have signed them on the spot. I'd have listened more to the theory that his choice was based on making Louis have to decide between two of his acts. That's what they should have done last week. I'm pretty certain Simon would have chosen 2 To Go for the hell of it after Sharon chose VWS but they went straight to Louis. It was great watching the little weasel squirm though I didn't think for a moment that he'd pick VWS to stay. I believe G4 were in the bottom two because their fans had become complacent after they stayed out of the bottom two with that performance of Baby One More Time where as it was obvious the public support wasn't there for VWS from the start. They only managed to avoid the bottom two one week. Choosing them would have been commercial suicide. I don't believe for a second Simon would have chosen VWS to stay if he'd thought there was the smallest chance Louis would choose G4 to go. The winner is going to be signed to his company after all. If there's one thing Simon Cowell has shown is that he doesn't mind competition. The runners-up in PI have been given as much of a chance as the winners in terms of publicity and promotion which is something that can't be said for something like Fame Academy where they've seemed to not want to lose face as far as the winner is concerned, probably more obviously in the second series than the first. I think as far as Simon Cowell is concerned any opportunity to make money is an opportunity to be taken. If Il Divo sell records and G4 appeal to a similar audience I'm sure that's a result as far as Simon Cowell's concerned.
