One Direction 4th Single - More Than This

It appears that One Direction are releasing More Than This as their fourth single on 17th June. Doesn't seem to have been a lot of promotion, nor a music video yet. How well do you think it'll fare in the charts?

There will be no real music video. Performance from a concert was uploaded to their Vevo channel a while ago. The song is 3rd single in Australia.

I have no expectations for UK charts. In the UK, mostly only singles released before the album do well. I mean, "One Thing" sold just over 100K in the UK, but was a big hit in Australia and is headed the same way in the US and Canada.

The album is already double platinum in the UK, it's been out since November ...

Yes I agree it probably won't chart high. I am not quite sure what the reason behind the release is as the album is still selling steady. Maybe the B side is to appease the fans here who haven't had any new music for ages

It does seem likely that it's mostly intended for the fans, but they do have lots of fans so perhaps the top 40 isn't out of the question. They certainly have nothing to prove at this point!

Well, according to Wikipedia the music video was 'shot in France', but maybe like the GBY video it'll come without notice.

And One Thing sold about 30K in one week, so I'm not even sure how this'll fare.

I am not sure about this as these are all over you tube anyway And does an EP count towards single or album chart?

This isnt being released in this country. I suspect the music video was only to highlight the DVD release here. The boys will be releasing a brand new song very soon from the next album. They are busy on tour in America until July when they will then go straight to the recording studios to record the Ed Sheeran written songs and would have no time to do any promo for More Than This anyway.

I agree, no point in releasing this single, and a ballad during the summer never works.

Even if it does well in Australia and U.S, I'm not expecting it to chart high in the UK, as long as it keeps the album going and the DVD seems to be doing very well.

I hope so Arty, really a waste of time releasing it.
