On Saturday, myself and a few friends are going to a Greek restaurant. I've never eaten Greek food.
What would you recommend that I have ?
I would like to have some "Typical Greek food", but I don't fancy Calamari ! ugh !
These are the menus by the way !

There's plenty on those menus for anyone. Possibly too much choice.

Just pick what you like. If you like chicken then you could get a chicken starter. If you like lamb then get a lamb main.

How about Keftedes followed by a pork kebab?

If you like lasagne, you'll probably enjoy pastitsio. The meatballs and kebabs will probably be pretty good too. Kleftiko is a classic if you like lamb. Lots of meat dishes have cinnamon as part of the spice mix which makes greek food distinctive. Feta is an acquired taste so you might want to avoid it unless you're very fond of cheese.

Have kebabs if you're not feeling adventurous, have a meze if you are. Other than those Kleftiko, Stifado and Afelia are all nice

Hmm, kebab. Grilled meat, rice, nice bread, dips, halloumi (like feta, an acquired taste but really yummy).

You really can't go wrong with Greek, one of my favourite cuisines. Enjoy!

When I went to Cyprus I have Tavvas - it was glorious. Also Beef Stifado is nice - quite a cinnamon kick tho.

tsatsiki, greek salad with feta and SPANAKOTYROPITAKIA is what I would have but I am veggie

dolmades can be nice but I find the rice a bit too gloopy

when I went to crete they were a bit light on veg options so I lived on Greek Salad, MANITARIA SKORDO and galric bread all week

was quite nice actually

I couldn't get on with Stifado, tasted too stong of cloves but maybe I had a bad one. I usually go for suklaki.

That's my trouble with Turkish food too. Their version of food being 'vegetarian' is omitting the meat/fish! you have to beware of the stock they use. Plus, I. Don't eat sheep/goat's cheeses either. All those wonderful vegetables I can rarely eat if prepared for me - plus I can't digest too much oil so I like salads with just herbs etc. my in laws are used to me after 34 yrs but its still hard to eat out. There are a few local take aways who do wraps & now remember I have the tomatoes, cow's feta, and more chilli than they can take! Another plus is we now have our own apartment opposite my Mother in law so I can buy all the lovely veg and cook my heart out - trouble is I love spicy food and they can't cope, so when I make Indian/Thai dishes I have to remember them too. But by goodness are they hard to convert! Unless they can chuck yoghurt over it then don't go there! My husband made me cook a chicken Sunday dinner with gravy & roasts for my Mil and brother in law, any one would swear they were going to be shot!
My husband wolfed it down and the other two, well they looked at potatoes like poison!

Well, I had the Dolmades to start, and then the Mixed Grill as my main.
There were seven of us and nobody wanted a dessert, so I didn't have one either. I fancied the Baklava though !
We each paid £27. This included drinks.
I would go back there again
