Fringe?

I have heard Fringe is really good but I'm in the UK and I don't know if it has been shown here? Does anyone know where I can watch it from the beginning?

It's shown on Sky1 but you can't see it from the beginning on DVD

You will find various threads about the show on the cult forum one down from this one.

It is very popular with UK sci fi fans. And has just been renewed for one final 13 episode series so WILL get a proper conclusion. As it deserves.

You can get the first three seasons boxset for around £30 on Amazon. The fourth season isn't out till September though.

I can't recommend Fringe enough.

Once it gets past the "monster-of-the-week" phase it gets much better. John Noble is quite brilliant and, eventually, so is Anna Torv.

It's ok, watchable fluff. Not an "A lister" such as, say, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Buffy, Angel or Lost; but much better than recent efforts such as Alcatraz or Touch. Middle of the road stuff. imo.

Fluff its one of the best if not the best sci-fi show ever made.Of the shows you listed only game of thrones is worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence as fringe

apologies that was exactly what I meant.

I managed to pick up season 1 for a fiver in Tesco a few months ago, so it's worth a look around before you buy the box set

Just waiting for season 4 to go on catch up on Virgin Media. Season 4 had already started on sky 1 while I was still catching up with Season 3 so I left it alone.

Worth watching just for Walter Bishop alone.

I was going to say the same thing. The first few episode reminded me of The X-Files, but it didn't take long before the show found its feet! Great show...love it!

I love it, but please perservere past the first season which is when the best storylines and long story arcs come into play. Seasons 2, 3, 4 and probably 5 are very different storytelling compared with the first season.

Yes, I would also recommend it on those basis. I can see SG1 fans also loving Fringe, both are inoffensive crowd pleasers in the tv sci-fi/fantasy world. A bit like pop in the music world. And before anyone gets dramatic about it, thats not meant as a put down. There's nothing wrong with being middle of the road, ST:TNG was middle of the road, and that was a fine & much loved series. It's just a matter of opinion, choice & mood. Just as with music, it's great that we have the choice of different levels of edginess, complexity and depth.

Thanks for reading my opinion.

Yes most people who are into fringe and are into sci-fi in general rate it as maybe the best sci-fi show ever. Clearly those who thing its "middle of the road fluff" are either trolling or have never really watched it.

Also cant understand a few here comparing it to buffy and angel the shows are not even alike.

Both buffy and angel whilst very good shows which I have enjoyed are now very dated and cheesy and are not in the same class as fringe both in the quality of writing or the acting. The only show in the same category of those listed above is game of thrones.
