A new show coming to the CW takes the 9pm slot on Thursdays which belonged to The Secret Circle previously.

Looks really interesting.

Looks like its loosely based on the old Linda Hamilton series which I loved. I'm not a Kristin fan, but it did look good.

I remember the original - all that underground tube surfing the beastman did to get around and his (iirc) psycic(?) link to beautywoman so whenever she was in danger (like EVERY SINGLE DAY) he'd zoom off to save her.

Will watch because of Kristen but I do hope the ptb don't wuss out re: the beast makeup. From the odd pic I've seen they seem to think that one-little-scar equates to beast. I guess they didn't want to mirror the originals lion-look thru fear of a public outcry of beastiality, but I do hope their beast doesn't simply look like a guy who (1) cut himself shaving and (2) has let his nails go a bit.

Loved the original show, the remake is ok, going to give it a few weeks.

If the ptb meant this to be a remake of the 80s/90s(?) show then they've failed. This is more like a Jekyl & Hyde or Hulk series - man searching for cure to stop him turning icky when angry.

I'm all for bringing old series into the 21st century, but Beauty and the Beast without the man being born looking like a beast, without the underground world, and without the train riding - well this ain't no update, it's a completely different series altogether.

- which I'm fine with btw, and I'll be there next week awatching. But why did the ptb feel the need to call it Beauty and the Beast, which immediately makes people compare it to the old series with Linda and HellboyMan, when the two series are 99% different.

kinda like the new Robocop movie which (appears to be) not a man who's been turned into a robot, but a man in a special SUIT.

As a 34 year old guy I am clearly outside the CWs target demo, but I sat down to watch this out of curiosity cos I remember the original series. 19 minutes later I have switched off - the show is clearly not aimed at my age bracket.

Beauty & the BEast (2012) does perfectly fit the CW template though. The show features a young hot cast and of course the token fugly who is best friend/ former roomie of the "beast" lol. It is interesting that the show's conecpt of "beast" has been reworked and I quite like the reworking - whilst the original featured a "physical beast", the beast in this one seems to refer to the character's rage / violence issues - at least that is what I gathered. Of course, the CW had to spoil it and in order to stress this in case the audience couldn't deduce this, they had to add a little scar which makes the beast, well ore beast-like lol

The editing / visuals / style are also 100% CW! Had to lol at the scene when hot cop protagonist girl from Smallville (who by the way has fast tracked within the NYPD and is now Detective) accompanied by similarly model like fellow detective collegue, jumped out of the car and catwalked their way across to a crime scene. As they did they "wore" their gold NYPD badges around their necks like a fashion accessory, flashing it at lower level bobby on the beat manning the scene, before making references to Louis Vuitton and breaking into chatter about "page 6 powercouples" lol Being used to representations of NYPD detectives that don't look pretty are at least in their late thirties and always wearing long coats I found this representation quite striking. Also, I know the actresses are probably older than 20, but why the need to make them look 20! it breaks the credibility factor and makes it hard to see them as detectives in the NYPD!

I might check out the remaining half of the episode merely to complete my "experience", but Im clearly not within the target demo for this show. I think I will hold out for the second Beaty & the Beast remake which is being developed by ABC for autumn 2013 - ABCs take will focus on a princess and a beast-like creature and is more supernatural fantasy being set in a parallel mythical world. A third remake is also being mooted - this time for th big screen and with Guillermo del Toro's participation. I think these two will more my cuppa tea.

I quite enjoyed it for what it was, certainly wouldnt start comparing it to the original storywise let alone acting wise, but it is the CW after all and considering i cant stand KK i thought it was watchable

Beauty and the Beast will be coming to the UK on Watch not Channel 5 as previously reported. UKTV put out the press release this morning.

You're correct, it's now Watch who have the rights and will be showing this early next year.

Just watched the first episode. Not perfect but I quite enjoyed it. Will follow it for a bit longer and see how it pans out.

After watching ep2 I am struck by the "why o why did KK sign up for this" thought - surely she'd had enough of playing opposite a guy with super hearing, super strength & super speed ?!

Some women always go for the same type.

Not sure if anyone's watching this but I have to say it's really grown on me. It does start quite badly as just another procedural / super hero mash up but I've really started to enjoy the characters. Having watched this and Arrow I'm warming to the characters much more in this. Maybe because it's squarely aimed at the female audience, but KK is always very watchable and Jay Ryan is more than just a pretty boy. Worth sticking with.

P.S - shouldn't this be on the sci fi page?

Having watched the first 9 episodes it hasn't really hooked me in, but it hasn't driven me away either. One good thing about a series as opposed to a film is that it can build more gradually and develop various arcs and storylines so it has potential. It is a bit heavy on the background music which I feel is over the top and spoils it sometimes. I recall Castle didn't win me over in season 1 but has been excellent ever since, so I'll probably stick with this for a while and see how it goes.

The Linda Hamilton version captured the feel of that special relationship between them very well and is a hard act to follow. This show hasn't quite got there yet, but maybe it will.

Am I the only one still watching this?

It's become my guilty pleasure...the love story is very good.
Just love the leads...they have such hot chemistry and really have the potential to become a very successful sexy and romantic couple on tv. I find a vast majority of characters likeable unlike Arrow for some reason.

Loved today's episode. Don't read spoilers but when Sendhil Ramamurty came on ....gorgeous gorgeous man. Been a fan of his since Heroes.

Looking forward to the next ep.

Im still watching this & totally loving it I especially love the relationship between Cat & Vincent (after just watching last nights episode wow do they have some serious chemistry!!!)

I really hope it gets a second season but knowing the CW network they could very easily cancel it

That's exactly what I thought. They must have a crush on each other...how can they not?!

I really hope this gets renewed ( not holding up hope because they seem to cancel the shows that I enjoy ). I hear it's a toss up between this, Hart of Dixie and Carrie Diaries.

Most ratings sites have both The Carrie Diaries and Beauty and the Beast odds on to be cancelled, which is annoying as I love BatB, but frankly the ratings in the US stink.

If they don't then they are very good actors to portray that love/lust

I watch both B&TB & Hart of Dixie so hope Carrie Diaries gets cancelled & the other two get picked up or I'll be pissed off

It seems like a lot of shows on the CW don't get given much of a chance & get cancelled too soon Im really hoping B&TB isn't one of them
