Alexandra Burke? I hate her music, especially her recent stuff, but she's pretty talented in terms of singing and performing.

I'd also say Rihanna is a better singer than Cheryl. Cheryl can dance but that's about it. I'd rather see Rihanna live than Cheryl. Actually I'd rather see none!

I have to agree with this. It surprises me that she has had no vocal training given the level of fame that she has. I always thought that to sing without sounded nasal was one of the first things that someone is taught when taking lessons.

Singing is like, 3/4 natural ability. If it wasn't there to begin with then you're only polishing a turd. Rihanna is a below average singer, but people are blinded by fame and image.

Pretty much. Her older stuff wasn't that bad but now it's all about sex and "controversy." All her songs sound the same from a lyrics standpoint. It's just overhyped garbage.

Admittedly she didn't write the bulk if her last album but every album from her third onwardshe has credit and creative free reign maybe look further back than Aphrodite.

And the ironic thing is Calvin Harris has been resoonsible for some huge hits at the moment and who worked with him first and started a trend Kylie way back in 07

And she may not have the best voice but always live.

Frankly it's absurd Kylie is even mentioned.

She can sing. I do think though that out of everyone, bar Katy Perry on occasion, she is the worst live singer, but I have heard her sound great on occasion too.

I agree with all the other points though. She is overall the least talented, but she has a great awareness about her music and her fanbase which means she seems to know what music to put out and when. So I give her credit for that.

And just to add, her voice has a very distinct quality about it that makes any song sound great. She has a fantastic tone for pop/rnb crossover music. And she is certainly a better singer than the likes of Kylie, Keshe and Madonna in her technical ability.

It annoys me how rich she is when there are loads of talented Jamaican & Bajan women who *are interested in Music software & /or playing musical instrument etc. Its quite unfair in my eyes.
Millions of talented people in the world who have been to university to study music theory or music technology, & they have no recognition & here we have Rihanna with millions acting like a......... ....(rant over )

What surprises me about Rihanna is how she has grown as an artist. She is very different to the girl she started out as. We have been on a real journey with her.

I don't understand how I sound like a deluded fan? If I was a deluded fan I would be talking about how incredible her voice is etc. but my post said nothing like that.

1) Well imo, she can sing live. You obviously don't think so so there's no point arguing about that.

2) You can't really comment how much contribution she actually has because we don't know, hence after stating her co-writes, I said "we don't know how much contribution she actually has." I stated fact, not the "desperate warbling of a deluded fan". You can't just guess since she didn't co-write on Loud that it meant she didn't contribute to song writing on Rated R. There could be a number of reasons for no co-writes on Loud like time restraints etc.

3) Again, your opinion that she can't sing.

She doesn't. Vocally she's alright live, but as a performer she just kills it and has the crowd going wild in a heartbeat.

Firstly you just repeated yourself and secondly ive only seen her a few times but on MTV World stage she was good imo, she sung most of the songs pretty well and put on a good show imo. Didnt mime or use a loud backing track either.
