I got a little adorable lady cat from the rescue centre, and she has always been a house cat, as that is what i wanted, however when i feed her she goes to scratch the carpet before eating as if she is trieding to cover the food, why does she do this, my old male cat, a outdoor cat never did, anyone any answers, and she is not stressed or anything like that.
Why does my Cat do this?
I'm not sure why she would do it before eating, but one of my cats certainly does it after he's eaten if there is still some food left in the bowl. He's actually a bit OCD about it and will keep pawing at the kitchen lino and anything else that's nearby (plastic carrier bags/shoes) until I have to actually get up and divert his attention. Drives me mad, but I still love him!

No she's totally harmless, she has never shown her teeth or raised her paw, also it is not so much sharpening her claws, it is more to do with covering the food and then eating.
