Just the sort of response I thought someone would make. I've been reading these forums for sometime and there's always someone who has to make a sarcastic remark to start a slanging match. Please note WHEN I OPENED my account, it wasn't "just to make a nasty post" as you put it. It was my opinion and feelings that I expressed about this mornings experience of W.M./ Ed Doolan and if you don't like it tough. Go and start another slagging match on another subject 'cos that's all I've got to say on the matter.
Just wondering...do you live in Corby or like to have your trousers pressed?

If you live in Corby you need to switch immediately to your local BBC station which is one of the best for 'hours per listener' and 'share of listeners 'in the country.
If you like your trousers pressed I can't help you.

Neither, never been to Corby and haven't pressed trousers for years
It's amazing how many different statistics that are anylised, " hours per listener" and "share of listener"... Interesting....if your into that sort of thing
If you want some practice with the trouser thing I'm up for it!

The only part that made sense of that massively long sentence is that you do not like Graham Torrington very much.

Sorry, but that's made me laugh and not a pathetic text talk lol.

Currently listening to Ed Doolan, the devil makes me listen and the devil makes me make comparisons between Ed and Tony Blackburn. Not much of an age gap between them, Tony is forever the polished broadcaster, as he's always been, so what happened to Ed? Why does he sound like a doddery old timer, struggling to get through every section of his three hour stint? It's not the old clips that he plays because I enjoy those, I'm listening to Kenneth Williams as I type, it's everything else, goodness me, he didn't even know what month it was an hour ago!!!

I remember the phone in that Keith Beech took part in the day after Boyden left.

Very uncomfortable listening, if you were KB.

Personally Boyden wasn't my cup of tea, with the over exaggerated Black Country accent. (I come from Walsall & mine isn't that bad!), but he pulled the punters in, which is important surely.

Can anyone remember if the figures were going down at the time Boyden left?

(Slightly off topic, I used to speak to someone in my job of work(non broadcasting) that claimed he was Boyden's cousin! Never discovered if it was true, despite me asking a couple of WM people by email & not getting a reply(Ignorant buggers!).

No wonder he's dropping down to one show a week soon!

Ed's not that bad. Don't forget he's had serious health issues on the past which will does take its toll on the person. I was listening to him on Friday and he did well I thought.

Saying that I think Caroline Martin will be an excellent replacement on weekdays.

Can't we merge the numerous WM threads into one? There are quite a few now and I can't understand why.

From her having one weekend off? No. She didn't do her Coventry & Warwickshire show this weekend so she was probably having a holiday.

However she no longer covers on weekdays at BBC WM and this might be down to the new station manager. To outsiders she may appear as a bit of a nutter but she's friendly and warm. Whenever there was a Keith Beech phone in with Ed Doolan there would always be many people phoning in asking for Mollie to have a weekday show but this never happened.

Tis a shame really and I hope she at least sticks around on Saturday brekkie.

Hearing about what happens in her private life makes her sound like a nutter!

Must we hear about her animal menagerie or the metal detecting?

I tuned most mornings to the Early Show & thinking WTF.

Think some of the listeners used to text in, just to take the p***?

I remember one text asking if she was on 'day release', presumbly from the local nuthouse.

Mind you most of her stand ins were rubbish, apart from Keithy Middleton!

You have to understand that most of the people who have the intellect and ability to present these programmes will not work for local radio money.

Looks like Conrad was doing the Five Live Late Show(The 10 till 1 show!) tonight, which explains his WM absence.

I'm sure that the people who used to work for you will be delighted with that assessment of their abilities.
