Tonights planned schedule was as follows:

Alan Carr's Summertime Spectacular - Ch 4 9:00 => 11:05
Have I Got News For You - BBC 1 9:20 => 10:00
Episodes - BBC 2 10:00 => 10:30

Now, I have 2 minutes pre and 5 minutes post padding so I would have expected the following:

Alan Carr's Summertime Spectacular - Ch 4 8:58 => 11:10
Have I Got News For You - BBC 1 9:18 => 10:00
Episodes - BBC 2 10:00 => 10:35

The HDR was in standby all evening and I have just booted it to check the recordings. I have:

Alan Carr's Summertime Spectacular - Ch 4 8:58 => 9:58
Have I Got News For You - BBC 1 9:18 => 10:05
Episodes - BBC 2 9:58 => 10:35

As you can see only the first 60 minutes of Alan Carr's Summertime Spectacular has recorded. When selecting the program it states "Recording has failed. Conflict with higher priority recording".

Anyone any ideas? When scheduling it did not complain about any clashes (as there is none) and logically if one of them were to fail surely it would have been Episodes? Don't understand - I have never seen it stop a recording once it has started.

Which HDR ?

The Foxsat-hdr handles auto padding differently to the HDR Fox T2 when making consecutive recordings using the same tuner.

The Foxsat-hdr only drops intermediate padding for recordings with the same tuner only when the recordings are from the same channel whereas the HDR FOX drops it even if they are different channels.

Assuming you were using the Foxsat I suspect what happened here is tuner 1 started the first recording. tuner 2 started the second. Now when the third recording started the box had two recordings both with a clash (the second recording due to the padding) and it elected to curtail tuner 1 recording rather than tuner 2.

I prefer to use AR and set manual recordings with padding to cover the channels that aren't reliable with AR.Had you used AR and set a manual recording for CH4 I suspect it would have worked just fine.

FOXSAT-HDR. Thinking about it, in the past when this has happened I remember losing the beginning of the final recording by a few minutes so what should have happened is:

Episodes - BBC 2 10:05 => 10:35


Perhaps, it only behaves this way if all 3 were series links? As the channel 4 was a one-off recording perhaps its flawed logic assumed I was happy to lose this recording.

Either way, its a poor show - it should have warned me when I set the recording that it was not going to record it in its entirety (and this was set using the remote via the guide and not using the web interface).

Anyway, I also record it on the Freeview HDR (in HD) - the FOXSAT HDR duplicates the recording schedule (but in SD and without AR) so that I can access it from outside of the home network and watch recordings when away (oh the joys of custom firmware).
